Think yourself lucky Kady...
Live blogging from a committee room...
If they could figure out how to stop you wireless transmitting without shutting out every Tory lackey's Crackberry...they would - I'm sure!

I agree, more coverage on copyright is needed, so more Canadians realize that the government is out to criminalize the standard behaviour of average Canadians.

Oh, believe me -- I will sneak off to cover copyright any chance I get; it was pure serendipity that one popped up at the Library of Parliament committee, of all places. But I worry that if it was rebranded as Knowledge Economy Infrastructure, it might fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of Inkless Wells. This way, we can both obsess over it!

More copyright coverage!! This stuff would be taken more seriously if it was called what it really is - "Knowledge Economy Infrastructure".

Hello:

I love this 'blog all over, and was especially delighted with the Liveblog of the Library of Parliament committee (yeah, I'm a librarian ...)

And as for more copyright coverage/commentary: Bring. It. On. This is a really, really important issue, and your colleagues and readers will thank you for tackling it one day, even if some of them eye-roll now. No DMCA for Canada!

Thanks for all your great work on ITQ: one of my favourite reads.

Take two - I'd blame the cat if I had one. BTW, you guys don't have captchas? Don't worry, you soon will...

Kady, you hit the nail on the head.

I could not agree more about the state of parl.gc.ca...there has been some improvements over the years, but I still find myself full-text searching more than I want to. Hansard is so-so, but committee pages are a scrambled mess. We need a robust howdtheyvote.ca-style feature and more RSS (and not just on selected feeds).

Arrgh. As a public interest non-profit researcher with a very thin budget, it frustrates me that our public resources aren't as accessible as they could be for next to no cost. I don't get government handouts, so as a "good conservative" could they at least open-source what our taxes pay for?

"Did I mention Cheryl Gallant is on the Library committee? That, unlike Hiebert’s presence here, does not surprise me."

Nor does it surprise me (and I'm unfortunate enough to be one of her constituents).
