Inkless spies with his little eye …

A shadowy figure who bears a haunting resemblance to Peter Van Loan!

So where is he? Oddly, not out gladhanding with his fellow Conservatives on the campaign trail — he’s hanging out at the Royal York, where Stephane Dion is giving a speech to the Economic Club of Canada.

Oh and just a note to anyone at the Little Shop of Increasingly Testy Email Blasts … it’s not actually the same venue as yesterday’s platform launch, although the two events were organized by the same group. As noted earlier, Dion is at the Royal York; Harper’s platform launch was at the Sheraton.

Heavens – surely Pete isn’t intending to say something wise – and pertinent to questions posed by journalists – sort of like he does at Question Period…?

Speaking of “shadowy figures trying to influence our elections” (attribution: ITQ tag above), any word yet on who financed Stephen Harper’s leadership campaign?

    Kady,

Can we expect to hear from Paul Wells on Dion’s address?

Had it on the teevee while working and had to stop to listen. Something has changed in Dion–he’s starting to look and sound like a winner.

Is that Mulcair in the foreground ?

Nice clear picture by a “professional journalis” ahem Mr. Wells.

Way to go Paul, you musta slept through photojournalism class.

    er….over/under to you

Did Peter Van Loan just get back from a warm climate (ie a meet the candidates meeting) He’s looking a little RED … Did he screw up the logic for his BM? i.e. STEP 5 CRAP, STEP 6 LOWER YOUR DRAWERS.

That isn’t Mulcair in the foreground.

bub – ever tried to get anything from Peekaboo Pete – a photo – an answer…?

I worked a campaign against Van Liarn – what with him and Patrick “Mr. Sleaze” Brown in the Barrie riding next door – there was more barnyard byproduct thrown by those two in their campaigns than from all the farmers combined in Van Loan’s very rural riding…

So, I just hear on the French news (RDI) reporting that Premier Ed Stelmach of Alberta was asking or calling for Minister meeting next week.
Interesting considering the shift in the polls.
On another note, I am always interested to see the very different emphasis and content in regards to the English and French media. It is very nice to be fully bilingual, it always serve me to very informed on the big picture.

Party platform was typed , printed and distributed in less than 5 days ? We can do better on economic plan ?

  • Torontonian

Peter Van Loan has been the stand-in Conservative at many local 416/905 all-candidates meetings.

I guess Harper & Co. don’t trust the field of candidates they have to answer questions intelligently or give the proper spin.

However will those people answer questions when they’re in their home ridings during sessions?
Oh right . . .hide from the press.

PVL is still red from the trouncing he received at the hands of Bob Rae and Olivia Chow during the CBC Toronto candidates debate last night.

  • Dot

Did he spill or slop any food or drink on anyone?

As we await the Nanosification of this blog,

consider the first line of the Globe article:

“QUEBEC CITY — Faced with the prospect of a Liberal minority government….”

It goes on to talk about Duceppe position on working with others, but that is secondary.

The “anybody but Harper” campaign is no longer. We’re where we started from at the beginning of this race (which was neck and neck between Dion and Harper).

Go back and look at the poll movement when the electorate is faced with the two choices at governing.

Archangel: Dion has indeed got his mojo back. Confirmed by the two lusty (for TO anyway) standing o’s he received towards the end of his very confident speech to the Empire Club today.

And the Tories have a new campaign slogan for the last week of the campaign:

    “Tank By Tuesday!”

or perhaps: “Tank Next Tuesday!!” (aka “TNT”)

I think Patrick Brown was posting in the Globe this morning … where he met a mouthy Maritimer … Patrick shrank back at the directness of the Maritimer. Pseudo BM from Barrie …

Scott in Montreal. I wouldn’t read too much into the “lusty standing ovations” for Dion.

All poltical parties stack speeches like this with their own supporters. The real news would be if he didn’t get a standing ovation. Moreover, this is Toronto….duh

  • keith by the Bruce

ralph (take a flyswat to a gunfight) klein debating against Peter Lougheed is the same as steve debating Dion ?

  • Cam

Two Cents, I recommend Don Martin’s column to you… he references that the Conservatives appear to have stacked the room yesterday, so your point is bang on. He does go on to say though, that the reaction to Mr. Harper was still a little underwhelmed.
