The part of Peter Van Loan, Hyperpartisan Attack Dog will be played by …

…. Pierre Poilievre, now styled as parliamentary secretary to the Prime Minister, which ensures that the irrepressible pixie dancer will bask in the Commons spotlight when the Prime Minister can’t be in the House – or doesn’t particularly want to answer pointed questions about, say, the in-and-out election financing controversy.

Oh, come on – does this come as a shock to anyone? Anyone? Good call by PMO, though – this way, the new Peter Van Loan – incoming House Leader Jay Hill – can actually start rebuilding behind-the-curtain relations with his opposition counterparts without having to worry about going all Mr. Hyde for the CPAC camera during QP.

You gotta be f*ckin’ kidding me.

Pierre Poilievre is puuuurfect. Pierre must be slowing down though, he hasn’t got the latest Pierre-is the greatest-promotional(tm) material on Wikipedia yet.

He can’t decide which sockpuppet to use.

Any word on who the Liberals have chosen to be their Hyperpartisan attack dog?

Oh wait…that’s right, we don’t keep track of them. Because Liberals are never Hyperpartisan. How silly of me to forget.

    Carry on then.

  • Jack Mitchell

Heh, yeah, well, it’s all relative, right?

    Great Job Pierre!!!

  • John D

If ever there were a Canadian personification of what’s wrong with politics, it’s Pierre.

  • Sophie

John G.- I think Ralph Goodale will return to the role.

  • Peter

It would seem to me that Sylvie Boucher got a bit of demotion.

I’m also surprised that Harper has not made use of harvard educated lawyer John Weston, or Bob Dechert. Seems a waste to have them just be meagre backbenchers.

  • D

Conservatives continue to demonstrate their lack of depth and class. After the comments that Poilievre made about natives, hours before the Harper apology in Parliament for the abuse in residential schools, he should have been relegated to the backbenches for a long time.

Rahim gets tossed but that miserable sh!t gets to keep his seat?

  • Anon

Kady, are you sure it’s a promotion? He is also the Parl Secy to the Minister for Intergov Affairs. Seems like nobody else wanted him, so they stuck him somewhere.

  • Chris R

Whoa! I must’ve been away for a day or two. What’s with the new design?? Sorry to drop this comment in the middle of a discussion about my favourite Tory pitbull — but other than Kady… I can’t find any of my favourite bloggers anymore! Hello?? Hello?? Where is everyone??

Anon – Oh, it’s a promotion – if my theory is correct (and I’m pretty sure it is), he’ll spend a lot more time on his feet during QP than he did as Baird’s ps, since he’ll fill the hole left by the elevation of PVL to ministerhood (yes, I know the HL job is considered as full minister – , but you know what I mean – he has a department now and everything), which means he’ll likely get to field the lead questions in the House. Sylvie Boucher has been demoted as far as title, but since she never actually got to act as the PM’s PS in the House, she probably won’t notice the difference.

Now that we know who the hyper-partizan “attack dog” is for the Conservatives, who is the hyper-partizan “attack dog” for the Liberals Kady? It’s funny how the Liberals are always left out of the neagative comments, hmmm! Mr. Holland would fit the role perfectly as there is no one in parliament as hyper-partizan and vicious as he (unless you of course you include someone’s favourite target Mr. Loan).

    Awesome…

Listening to the Liberals and there PPG friends whine at the “Big Meanie” Pierre Poilievre, is just a bonus..

    John G Says..

“Any word on who the Liberals have chosen to be their Hyperpartisan attack dog?”

The people in the media who don’t say boo, about the Liberal shiz.(or CPC for that matter) Are Liberals, it’s a great test to sift out the partisan reporters.

Was that supposed to make any sense whatsoever?

  • http://www.macleans.ca Kady O’Malley

Of all the words that have been used to describe Pierre Poilievre by friends and foes alike, I don’t believe “Big Meanie” has ever been among them. (Oh, and we don’t know who the Liberal attack-dog-in-chief will be; they’ve not released the new critic assignments yet, as far as I know.)

  • Geiseric the Lame

The little shit’s gifted but he doesn’t have what it takes. He’ll be rotated out.

  • Wayne

Excellent news: I like this young guy and have no doubt that he has a long and prosperous future in the house. I am very impressed with his research abilities and his ability to think on his feet. Keep up the good work!

    Olaf says…

“Was that supposed to make any sense whatsoever?”

    Sorry oh great one..

I understand you try to act like Mr. non partisan, hero. Don’t get me wrong I like your blog but I understand you are very high on yourself.

So let me just try to clarify it for you.

Media blogs or media in general, who only point out one side of common political acts is a red flag for who they favor(CPC,LPC,BQ and the NDP)…

If that does not make sense to you Olaf I understand, the pedestal you think you stand on is very high….

    Kady says…

“Of all the words that have been used to describe Pierre Poilievre by friends and foes alike, I don’t believe “Big Meanie” has ever been among them. ”

It was kind of a play on how the PPG calls him a pitbull. I like Pierre Poilievre, he is my age and he had alot of good lines for partisan CPC supporters last go around.

But Pierre showed he can stay on message. Just look at his media interviews after the dust up over his comments on the radio during the Governments(not CPC) residential schools apology….

Bottom line I think Pierre, will stay on message, and he is still young and has alot of time to grow. If Harpers tone is to be non partisan then Pierre, will be non partisan…

    Just my thoughts, that’s all.

“(Oh, and we don’t know who the Liberal attack-dog-in-chief will be; they’ve not released the new critic assignments yet, as far as I know.)”

Well, we know who it won’t be, since the voters of West Nova tied a can to Robert Thibault’s rear end and threw him off the Digby Wharf. A sewage treatment project if ever there was one.

Hope you’re right about that Geiseric.

I disagree on that. I don’t think PP will be able to stay non-partisan for any length of time. It’s not in his genes & he will slip eventually. And I’m not so sure Harper will stay non-partisan, if at all, for long.

Like the new look btw. And it seems to be loading faster. It was taking forever to load your site & was getting worse. And it wasn’t my computer either. It’s also much easier to read! Looks very professional as well. Great to see such a positive change!!!

PP will have his hands full with a dysfunctional parliament, meaningless committees and parties with no real agenda. And ofcourse CPC will have their own share of scanals including the Kevin Page Affair. Liberals, NDP and the Bloc with have enough aresenals to attack.
