He’s just won the presidency and yet he looks small and tired and human. Letting all these images go out is a good sign, it seems to me, that he and the campaign have some humility.

You know what is awesome about American politics? The showmanship. The little things like staging and locations of events. Even the idea that someone would be hired to take photographs and then PLACE them online for free!!! Genius.

I think that smiling and pointing photo was the one they used for the “I’m Barack Obama and I approved this message” tagline in his ads.

I hope this hype of everything Obama isn’t going to last 4 years. I heard on the news Friday that his gorgeous family, as Obama-adulator Sisphus calls them, were debating what dog they were going to get when they moved into the White House. Obama then set out the various criteria they were looking at, for what will no doubt become the country’s top dog. The media, panting as usual in Obama’s presence, were lapping it up and reporting it so the world would know. This kind of trivia is usually reserved for royalty and not for mere politicians. With the fawning media fawning away, your average citizen could be forgiven for thinking that the U.S.A. is no longer a republic.

I suspect the Obamaniacs that frequent this site will be sifting through the thousands of pictures in Mr. Well’s link. Would anyone kindly let me know if His Highness is wearing a crown in any of them? Thanks very much.

Happens every time, Bush 41′s dog millie, Sox the cat with the Clintons, Barney in 43′s White House.

And the first few months are filled with, First lady cooking recipies, what the first family puts in the lunch boxes of the kids, yada yada. It happened under Carter, the coverage looked like this, and Reagan, (style is back).

All par for the course, the first few months are always a bit of a hagiography. Bush 41 missed out a bit of it because of the controversy but more than made up for it with post Sept 11th coverage.

Trust me it all changes soon enough as Obama makes the inevitable misstep and politics as usual happens….the voctry lap this time round will be a little longer, likely into the fall of 2009. It should all start getting nasty then as people start gearing up for the midterms that happen a year after that.

Sun rises and sets, Spring follws winter….nothing new to this cycle yet.
