Tonight On 30 ROCK: Three Helpings Of Awesome

by Jaime Weinman on Thursday, November 13, 2008 4:45pm - 4 Comments

My Night Court nostalgia seems to be spreading. Tonight’s episode of 30 Rock will have a subplot where Tracy tries to cheer Kenneth up by inviting cast members from Night Court to pay him a visit. (The episode is even called “The One With the Cast of Night Court.”) But the cast listing suggests that only three cast members will actually be in the episode: Harry Anderson, Markie Post, Charles Robinson. Why they couldn’t get John Larroquette when he was on Chuck just recently, I don’t know. Though the fact that Richard Moll isn’t there probably just adds to the urban legend that he didn’t get along with his castmates.

Ah, well, at least some of them will be there to meet Liz Lemon. And why not? They already met Kramer.

When I saw that on tvguide.com, I immediately thought of you. I knew you’d be excited.

Is it weird that I mostly associate Charlie Robinson with Buffalo Bill, even though I watched Night Court reruns a lot as a kid and I’m only 23? Anyway, he was pretty great on both of those shows.

And Home Improvement, actually, come to think of it.

I’m 23 and a big Night Court and Larroquette fan as well. The only reason I can come up with as to why John couldn’t make it is that his Boston Legal contract isn’t up although I’ve read they’ve been done with filming the final season for a while now. I’m not a huge fan of Boston Legal myself, I think they robbed John of some talent by giving him a lackluster character with 0 personality.

Isn’t Jennifer Aniston on 30 Rock tonight, mmm Markie Post and Jennifer Aniston, should be a good episode.

At the very end of the episode, I was expecting Richard Moll to make a brief cameo as a “real life Night Court” security guard type character (similar to – or even with – another ex-NBC’r Gary Coleman).
