Who knows where Flaherty is at the moment on the auto bailout question. Seems to me Flaherty has been consistently inconsistent. I think Canada is just waiting for Americans to bailout the companies and than see what happens here.

A little bit of mature honesty with taxpayers wouldn’t hurt. Apparently Flaherty is incapable of this.

    T. Thwim,

I suppose Flaherty being an alien would explain a lot…

I’ll trade you one CN Tower for a slightly disshovelled out-dated oldsmobile factory…

Sorry folks, you left the most important event in the sequence of events out:

November 6, 2008 While campaigning last week Obama said helping the auto industry
would be one of his administration’s top priorities.

Which explains the following flip flop:

October 28: Prentice says no to auto parts bailout
November 8: Canada cautiously considers assistance to auto industry

This would be so much easier if the big 3 were based out of Quebec.

  • Wascally Wabbit

jwl – I do not concur!
Mr. Flaherty is very consistent – just not on these things.
Between Mr. Eves and Flaherty’s watch under the Common Nonsense Revolution – they had a firesale on valuable Ontario assets – in order to camouflage the fact that they didn’t have a clue about economics!
Now Mr. Flaherty occupies the Federal Finance chair – he is back to the same old game – fire sale fire sale – friends of the CPC party gather around – do I have some cheap cheap goodies for you…

“They are not car companies any longer. They are benefits distributors that happen to also make vehicles on the side.”
