Here at Maclean's, we appreciate the written word. And we appreciate you, the reader. We are always looking for ways to create a better user experience for you and wanted to try out a new functionality that provides you with a reading experience in which the words and fonts take centre stage. We believe you'll appreciate the clean, white layout as you read our feature articles. But we don't want to force it on you and it's completely optional. Click "View in Clean Reading Mode" on any article if you want to try it out. Once there, you can click "Go back to regular view" at the top or bottom of the article to return to the regular layout.
Not sure why it’s taken so long for Royal Galipeau to make it official, but he’s now the seventh (!) MP — and the fourth Conservative — to enter the race to turf Peter Milliken from the Speaker’s chair. The ITQ poll has been updated accordingly:
Eeeeeeeeeeees not fair . No way I can vote for the best man (Joe ) when his party leadership has joined the old liberal & new cons in sellng ” you will wonder where the yellow went when you brush your teeth with …..”

Fourth Conservative – you mean third, right? Also, you don’t have Proulx’s name in there but isn’t he running?

Anon – No, four Conservatives: Merv Tweed, Barry Devolin, Andrew Scheer and now Royal Galipeau. As for Proulx, I keep hearing reports that he plans to let his name stand, but as far as I know, he isn’t actively campaigning, and he accepted the deputy whip job just a week or two ago.

Oh, right, Kady. For some reason, I thought Devolin was Liberal. Is Belanger actively campaigning?

I believe Royal would do a better job than Peter Milliken, but I still like Andrew Scheer. Come to think of it, almost anyone would do better than Peter Milliken. We need fresh blood.
