Nine months ago, New York City mandated that all restaurants with more than 15 locations in the city must post calorie data on their menus. Now, a new study on the effects of the mandate finds that 82 per cent of patrons do indeed make healthier choices when they have more information. Technomic, a Chicago-based food-industry consultant, surveyed 750 New Yorkers. One-third of respondents said they stopped going to certain restaurants altogether once they saw how many calories were on the menu.
