Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has sat down for a long interview with the German magazine Der Spiegel. He welcomed the “great changes” that are happening in the United States but repeatedly downplayed President Barack Obama’s recent attempts to reach out to Iran, saying that America’s rhetoric has changed but its actions have not. He blamed America and Israel for much that has gone in the world and said the United States must learn lessons from the past. Asked what lessons Iran must learn, he replied: “We have been under pressure for the last 30 years, unfairly and without fault on our part. We have done nothing.”
