Victoria is Canada’s best place to live according to a new survey

For the past two years, Ottawa has topped MoneySense’s ranking of the best places to live in Canada. But this year, Victoria has taken the crown, thanks to its clean air, low unemployment, affordable tax rates, and the ease with which you can get around the city. The B.C. capital could use some cheaper housing options, but who wouldn’t pay a little extra to live in a city where the thermometer drops below freezing a mere 53 days a year? Ottawa drops to second on this year’s list, with Kingston rounding out the top three.

Yeah Team! Life is good where ” The Rock Meets The Water ” I can safely state that ever since I left Peterborough Ontario and moved out here to Victoria … well quite simply Victoria is without a doubt the best place that I have ever lived or visited. I can only handle about 3 or 4 days off the island and i simply have to get back a.s.a.p. Right now I just looked out my office window and lo and behold there are 2 help wanted signs on business front windows, the sun is shining and the tulips are dancing.

I have lived in Ottawa and have lived in Vancouver and I can assure you Vancouver is a much better place to live. Ask me again in February.

Victoria has clear benefits without doubt, that being said it also has its negatives. The least of which is not that it feels like it is at constant inertia…having lived both here in Vic and Ottawa, this places Ottawa feel like NYC at times.

I grew up in Victoria. Couldn’t wait to leave. Other than the climate I can’t think of any reason to return. Maybe when I’m old and “dull” is higher on my list of priorities Victoria will have more appeal.
