Works for me. Radwanski doesn’t. But the link does.

“Mr. Kenney has appeared in public with the Conservative candidate she narrowly beat in the last election, she said. And he told CTV’s Question Period this weekend that the women have been by told by Immigration officials that the time they spent in the Dhalla residence will be counted towards their permanent residency, even if they were not working as caregivers as required by law.

Yet “today, when the question was asked to the women – ‘Have you ever met with Minister Kenney or with any other department official?’ – they denied meeting with any other department official,” Ms. Dhalla said.”

    Hmmm….

Nice Job Aaron. You’ve linked to a couple of stories that are trying to play up the Jason Kenney conspiracy angle, but somehow you failed to include this story in your summary of the coverage. Given it’s content and the ease with which it destroy’s Ruby Dhalla’s testimony, I guess that’s not surprising.

So, more links to Jason Kenney’s apparent masterminding of the whole thing, and failing to link to the most critical coverage Dhalla has received. You’ve earned your pay for the week. Nice that you draw a paycheck from Macleans as well.

Nice job John. That editorial was posted a mere 13 hours after this post went up.

Fair enough on the editorial Aaron, I’ve not checked the site in a while and didn’t notice the timestamps.

But editorial aside, continuing to play the Jason Kenney canard is bad enough in its own right. It’s irresponsible journalism on the part of everyone who is propagating it, including Susan Delacourt, Don Martin, David Akin, Adam Radwanski, and yourself. Almost every story you linked to above tried to play up this angle.

There is not a scintilla of evidence that Jason Kenney is behind this, and the attempts to link him to this story are pathetic and self-serving. So he met with the Conservative candidate in Dhalla’s riding. That’s it? That’s your evidence? Here’s a flash…the Conservatives barely lost that riding last election, and toppling Dhalla would be a major coup for the party. Presumably they will put some effort into winning it the next time around. So it’s not at all unusual that the CPC would deploy some of its top talent in an attempt to gain the seat next time.

To use that as the basis for attempting to portray Jason Kenney as some kind of mastermind conspirator in this story about how the Dhalla family mistreated their nannies is the worst kind of yellow journalism, and all of you that have partaken in it should be ashamed of yourselves.

No one has disputed the fact that the nannies were paid $250/week. The receipts prove it. Even assuming they only worked a 40 hour week, that would be a shade over $6/hour, well below minimum wage. Was that Jason Kenney’s fault too?
