But if Harper’s various comments, such as those about Liberal voters west of Winnipeg (you know, the ones who live in ghettos, etc) you’ll see this belief pop up now and again.

The pervasive attitude among the Reform-Conservatives is that unless you fit into a very narrow scope of what they deem to be Canadian, you are therefore a second class citizen…in essence “one of them”, and you are destroying the country’s institutions and choking us out slowly.

Tony Clement: “They do not represent the people of Canada”.

1. Is Tony saying that more than 1/2 of the House of Commons doesn’t represent the people of Canada? Is he actually saying that with a straight face?

2. Does he simply mean to imply that non-Conservative Canadians are real Canadians? If that’s the case, didn’t John McCain try this in the U.S. election, with his “real America” B.S.? How did that work out for him?

These Reform Conservatives with their insular nationalism, and frankly McCarthyism, are going down if that’s the best they can do.
