Bold prediction: she won't walk the plank.

The minister was working at the time and her executive assistant should be responsible for any documents and briefing notes. My question is why did CTV hold on to this stuff for a whole week. This Minister is doing a superlative job of cleaning up another left over mess the Conservtives inherited from the Liberals

It's being reported that one of her aides was just fired over this.

      I`m psychic!

And following that report, Bob Fife reports sources just told him this was actually Raitt's personal binder, not the staffer's, making the attempt to blame staffer (a 26 year old press secretary) a transparently obvious attempt to dodge responsibility by the minister. Fife just blew a massive hole in the PMO's defence, and Raitt's credibility.

The staffer was responsible for leaving the binder behind, no? Also, Fife's anonymous "source" must be psychic if he/she is somehow able to divine the ownership of the binder.

Taxpayers aren't paying you, are they, to do this nonstop spinning?

          • Critical Reasoning

Nope. I do this because I enjoy it. It's fun applying sober common sense to folks who have worked themselves into a lather about the latest "only in Ottawa" scandal. "The Minister… must… resign!".

That, or they know the numbering system or the catalogue or both. Either way Raitt should have received notice when they weren't returned in time.

      Got quit.

Bah. A CPC minister made to "walk the plank" for incompetence? I'm with CR on this: it won't happen.

How can a prime minister ethically hold his cabinet to a standard higher than that to which he holds himself? This fiasco will demonstrate to all of the naysayers out there that Stephen Harper is absolutely incapable of hypocrisy.

    Seriously?

There's only one way both Raitt and the document tracking system wouldn't have noticed the binder was missing.

    They weren't originals.

Which means if the opposition is at all worth its salt there's an auditor to query and at least one more empty plate that needs a head on it.
