The health minister got an apology

Canwest talks to Leona Aglukkaq about her conversation with Lisa Raitt last week.

Federal Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq has accepted her colleague Lisa Raitt’s apology for disparaging remarks made about her that were caught on an audio tape, and says she’s putting the ordeal behind her so she can concentrate on her work… When asked if she was shocked by the comments her colleague made, Aglukkaq said, “I was, but I was really thankful that she called me before I heard it from anyone else.

“I accepted her apology and I need to move on, because I have huge issues to deal with and I can’t let that affect how I’m dealing with the situation and I just need, basically, to move on,” she said.

    Agglukaq is a class act.

The only one in this Government.

There are many class acts in the Government. It's just that being classy is not considered particularly newsworthy, so we never hear about such things.

Great to see Leona is woman enough to move on from this and do her job—-Who knows?—Maybe she remembered she might have said some random criticisms in private conversations in the past.

I suspect a few people around here could learn from the maturity she demonstrates.

Good response, yet again, Ms. Aglukkaq

Wouldn't it be hiolarious if in a few years both of them ran for leadership – ROFL – I truly love canadian politics .. the twists and turns. I seem to remember Chretien and another guy, for the life of me I can't remember his name (damn alzheimers moment) .. but there was something similar – well anyways the 2 had a problem and they both ran for leadership and what a battle that was at the convention. I had a gas there as no one knows how to leave blood on the floor like the Liberals. Hopefully I will be attending the Conservative leadership convention in a couple of years we shall see. health permitting.

"I had a gas there as no one knows how to leave blood on the floor like the Liberals."

I don't know Wayne… the Conservative party was so deeply divided it split into two parties (think of the blood!), both of which are now dead (so I guess no more blood). The new party, created from the ashes of separation and the breaking of promises, were unable to acheive a majority against the weakest Liberal party in the history of confederation and have all but disappeared from Canada's second-most populated province.

One party seems to be enjoying a surge in new blood while the other keeps bleeding out. In the race to spill blood, the Conservatives are well in front, and the knives are getting sharper by the day.
