The inevitable ShamWow joke

From the NDP’s Chris Charlton during this morning’s session of QP.

Mr. Speaker, Canadians expect their government to be upfront with them, especially in the midst of a recession that is hurting so many. Yesterday’s performance by the Prime Minister and his own personal Phil Donahue had all the substance of a 30-second spot for ShamWows.

But unlike the ShamWow! spots, there was no 'consumer-relief reflex following the hypnotically-in-a-bad-way infomercial. Just a odorous, heavy fog that my kids aren't going to have enough paper towel to clean up the mess…

Oh come on Charlton. Those Sham-Wow spots run a good 2 minutes at least.

I think that was part of the point.

Well, the " personal Phil Donahue " is pretty good.

I wouldn't want to be the one to tell Phil though.

Are you following me camera guy?

It's made by Germans, so you know it's gotta be good!

    LOL

I've never seen anything as exciting as this happen in a ShamWow commercial:

My favourite part is the PM's compassion as he notices that no one appears to be dead, turns back around, takes a sip of water, and carries on.

That's totally unfair. In terms of production values and script quality, the Harper and Duffy Revue made the typical ShamWow infomercial look like Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet.
