Looks like a bit of a downer.

And you could probably feed a few hundred thousand hungry kids for a year with its' special effects budget.

How can any movie in which THE EARTH IS DESTROYED be a downer?

    Cool. Must-see.

Still, we need more movies in which things are patiently built and lovingly constructed, only to wind up standing the test of time.

I am in full agreement with Gordon and Potter. I also like movies with religious and/or political conspiracy theories so Mayan calendar predictions are up my alley as well. Seems like win-win: explosions and conspiracy theories.

My favourite scene was where the White House was crushed by an aircraft carrier surfing a massive tsunami.

Looks unreal! Can't wait! Anything that resembles Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow is good!

I don't follow the story. Are they invaded by nature? By aliens? What's the point?

All lies, the Mayan King who founded that calendor also said that people would be celebrating the same calendor in the year 3000A.D.

No global disaster is coming, i would be more worried about your governments launching nukes than some cosmic myth.
