MUSIC: Your tax dollars at play

The National Arts Centre Orchestra celebrates the NAC’s 40th anniversary by putting recordings of more than 150 performances from across the decades online for free. Conductors include Mario Bernardi, Bramwell Tovey, Bill Eddins and Pinchas Zukerman. Soloists include pianists Martha Argerich, Garrick Ohlsson and Yefim Bronfman, baritone Gerald Finley, soprano Measha Brueggergosman and cellist and Seinfeld punchline Yo-Yo Ma. Featured composers include all the cats, from Bach to Beethoven, Brahms, Berlioz and lots of Mozart (see “Pinchas Zukerman,” above). I’m glad for the chance to check out some Gary Kulesha, Murray Schafer, Alexina Louie and other weirdo Canadian music.

Oops. I mistook. I assumed they were downloads.

Anyway, there are worse uses for tax dollars.
    Down here we're building a four-lane through two-lane country.

Good-looking stuff. Thanks for pointing this out.

Thank you. I look forward to many pleasant hours of exploration here.
