While we wait for the latest development in Wafergate-gate to reveal itself to ITQ — yes, she’s still on it –  let’s all sit back and learn a little bit more about Langevin Block and the Blackburn Building, courtesy of the Privy Council Office.

Thanks for the architectural moment. I quite like the Second Empire style.

    Wafers 158, Architectural History 1.

Yes, very sad really. In happier times we did have a good discussion of architecture when Wells proposed razing 24 Sussex.

Indeed. I still think rebuilding it is a good idea, albeit very unlikely to happen.

I think the wafer story has completely played itself out. LifeSiteNews was the last gasp. Even in silly season, there's not enough oxygen to keep this turkey alive.

Liberals & Conservatives in a dead heat — fundraising wise — for the June quarter, according to Elections Canada. That's quite impressive, I'd think.

I see the Liberals raised a very impressive $3.9 M. Kudos to Iggy. Do you know how much the Tories raised last quarter?

Results of the June quarter from Elections Canada: (contributions)

        Bloc Québécois: 68,969.94
        NDP: 711,269.13
        Green: 192,350.47
        Liberal: 3,878,113.54
        Harper's Party: 3,957,662.18

Like I said, a tie, much like the polls.

Um, given the relative propensity of Conservatives and Liberals to give money to their respective parties, I would say that's a stonking victory for Iggy. Also, cash always leads voting intention. Another fall election, fric !!!

Kudos to Rocco Rossi, and by extension Kudos to Ignatieff for bringing in the right person to fix the issue.

Not to be a sourpuss, but the next test is, is it sustained. I am sure it will be, but given that there wasn't a culture of this before will it be sustained?

Oh and can we now get past the bleat from before that it is unfair that the Liberals cant raise money and therefore the government owes them some. They clearly can, and the government clearly doesnt.

So does this now explain why Duceppe is going to resign now? since the writing is on the wall about the elimination of the subsidy. The Bloc are the only ones who require it in the long run.

  • Sigh

Who says we can't have nice things?

I can't resist a bit of tongue-in-cheek-snark and have to note that in the Langevin piece is an April 1883 quote from an MP noting that the civil service's "sacred" work hours were 9 to 4. How on earth did we squeeze an extra hour per day out of them in the intervening century? But hey, some of my best friends are civil servants, for real…
