Righting the course: Charles McVety, Tony Clement and … ITQ?

by kadyomalley on Thursday, July 30, 2009 10:49pm - 42 Comments

mcvetyitq Yes, in this week’s webisode of the Charles McVety Show, ITQ gets a shoutout from McVety himself. You can watch the whole show here, at least for the moment — I’m not sure how often he rotates them out for new material — and the segment on sex parades, and more specifically, his self-proclaimed success in putting a stop to the federal funding thereof, kicks off just before the 20 minute mark. Happy viewing, all!

How in the world did you find out about that? Don't tell me you actually force yourself to listen to that stuff every week – I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

A kindly reader and regular viewer dropped me a line to let me know that my fifteen minutes of fame has officially begun.

I hope you got a free "Advocate for Canadian Values" certificate out of it…

You need to take this seriously because normal Canadians are starting to get pissed off at being lied to by the Liberal MSM who have not been featured on a evangelically Christian website which entices people with free dancing DVDs.

Don't accept some pathetic response that you need to donate — demand that you get real recognition!

(Seriously though — what's with the production values there? If Rogers TV, run by volunteers, can manage to put together a talking head program that doesn't leave you dizzy, how come "word.ca" can't?)

        ITQ: As seen on McVetyTV!

  • bronwynmaye

The guy scares me because he really seems to believe what he says.

    • Mulletaur

Yes, all people who believe what they say without nuance scare the crap out of me.

  • RayK

I don't mean to be an ass, but don't you mean "sex parades" (in quotes)? I mean, that's not the actual term for gay pride parades.

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/KadyITQ KadyITQ

I've decided it's actually a much catchier name, and will bring in more tourists. We all have to do our part during these difficult economic times.

      • Mulletaur

        LOL, the mind boggles. Nice.

      • an online reader

Tiverton , On. has a three day old boys reunion starting today . Event schedule is hour by hour all weekend . Nowhere is the nightshirt parade mentioned ? Do some people participate in $ex related celebration for fun ?

He uses the term sex parades in the same way as he uses the
title Doctor, or Reverend, or Bishop.

He's a diploma mill junkie and his understanding of nomenclature
is still at the adolescent teen-spirit stage of his life.
By the way, if he gets any larger, he'll get his own
    postal code.

One broadcast that never made it to the website was the
    one where Frank Klees–remember him?–announced
his candidacy for Ontario PC leadership. The word got
flashed about Canadian websites and it never made it
    to the http://www.word.ca website.

He [McVety] does that. He hides what is inconvenient.

    Hardly mature for a minister.

Well, a real minister at least.

  • Mulletaur

'The Third Jihad', is that supposed to be like The Third Reich ?

  • Mulletaur

Oh my God, this tremendous turd McVety just doesn't get irony, or at least, ironic ITQ headlines. He certainly didn't get the 'right' part of it.

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/SisyphusThis SisyphusThis

Watch it ? I'd do a lot for you, Kady, but to quote the Meatloafer .. "I won't do that".

    Congratulations …… I guess.

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/SophiaGeffros Sophia Geffros

    *headdesk*
Well, congratulations, Kady! Even if apparently McVety is immune to irony. (Does that remind you of any other political figures from, say, the last US election?) Do you suppose it's merely a genetic malformation, or is this some sort of new disease we need to worry about? D'you suppose it's catching?

what does a barn have to do with it? … and don't tell me I have to watch a blasted 20 minute video to find out.

  • http://bigcitylib.blogspot.com bigcitylib

    You have truly arrived.

  • Hanging Out

I was trying to figure out who McVety reminded me of in the video, and concluded that his robotic-melodic tone and just-a-bit-too-enthused delivery style seem to be very close to that Jack Van Impe.

I wonder if they have the same on-air presentation coach, or if there's a evangelical TV-camp they all attend?

    • dunno

He's clearly learned from the master:

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/DerekPearce DerekPearce

That's what's missing from this McVety show– he needs his own version of Rexella! I've watched Jack Van Impe many a time because I find his wife. To. Be. Absolutely. Mesmerizing.

      • cam

have you seen Mrs. McVety? No Rexella I'm afraid.

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/WDM WDM

That guy switches camera angles more than Keith Olbermann.

    • Max

      Watching McVety would induce vertigo.

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/WDM WDM

Is anyone worried the sex parades may be a cover to launch this third jihad? Someone get Rudy!!! We need his help!

  • http://bigcitylib.blogspot.com bigcitylib

    2 things.

What is a "fox sex act"?

Don't miss the great Christian Rock band performing "You are worthy of my praise" at about the 15 minute mark. Seriously.

    • Kevin

Dam* you – you made me listen to that garbage twice – I missed the "fox sex act" bit!

I believe he said "mock sex acts". If people are hearing "fox" then the good "rev" also needs to use more poligrip.

Kady, the only way you can top this one is to be sued by the Scientologists.

    Go on, I dare ya…

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/Crit_Reasoning Crit_Reasoning

Kady already has been targeted by Scientologists!!! Some Scientology nutcases even protested against her outside Centre Block.

  • Mulletaur

I feel sorry for his poor daughter. With a father like that, she's bound to have some problems down the road. Very sad.

  • Ronald

By far the most hilarious person on television. I never miss it.

  • Phil

Why is Maclean's supporting sex parades? Won't somebody please think of the children!

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/DerekPearce DerekPearce

I started to giggle after about the third time he said "SEX parade." He couldn't resist using that term ad nauseum. Everyone now- "SEX parade. SEX parade. SEX PARADE!" How many times can YOU fit the term "SEX parade" into a 5 minute clip? Oh, and how many times can slip a reference into making a pledge/donation at the same time. He only mentioned it once during that segment, which surprised me.

I know it goes without saying but I'll say it anyway: this type of nonsense is exactly why a lot of voters still worry that the federal Tories have a big bad Secret Agenda. Or to put it another way, and to damn the Liberals with faint praise: many voters hold their noses and vote Liberal because they get the heebie jeebies (sp?) when they see the Tories hopping into bed with fundamentalists like this.

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/YYZ YYZ

I've never heard or seen McVety before (only read his quotes). But based on the attention he gets, I expected him to be more Billy Graham and less Church Lady.

  • sgifford2@cogeco.ca

The schedule says you will be on the Miracle Channel – you know, where they sell that funny water and all.

Kady, Kady – you have to quit hugging all those men (Kinsella, Tory, et al).

  • Jenn

No really, if the guy wants to move camera shots all the time, fine. But shouldn't the camera shot move at the same time? What is with this lag? Very dizzying. Maybe it's a technique to get more money or something.

Next week, maybe McVety can report on Kady reporting on McVety reporting on Kady . . .
