Don't really feel like reading the first one.

I don't think you're missing much. I don't really buy the proposition that all youth are naturally so radical that party politics – even via the NDP or Greens – is just "too conservative" to be interesting, and that they must therefore only feel fulfilling participation in society via membership in wacky NGOs and use of open-source software.

I was reminded of The Rebel Sell, actually…

I'm not saying I agree with either Loat or Eaves. I don't actually… it's an interesting debate though.

Thanks for the link to Molly Ringwald's piece on John Hughes. Still very sad.

Yeah – it's not a bad piece huh?

      • CAPS

Not bad at all. You get a real sense of her connection to him and the impact they had on each other.

You're only promoting the Eaves piece because he endorses you in it! (Don't worry; I kid, I kid.)

How about doing us all a favour and changing the title to "Stuff I recommend reading" rather than the currently imperious "Stuff you should read".

The title isn't "imperious". It's just a strong recommendation by Potter. In other words, you're reading too much into "Stuff you should read". ;-)

"Over at Glavin’s place, a guest essay about detained Canadian journalist Maziar Bahari"

Does he link to Potter in that post? Someone read the tedious Glavin and let me know.

Cosh on Paul: A worthy tribute to true innovator. I second Potter's recommendation.
