He may not have gotten a fair trial but I believe he is guilty of her death - you can't rebuke eyewitness accounts of his personality at work - I feel sorry for the lot of them, especially his kids. But I wish him well in his golden years. When are we going to learn from events like this - it's all about money and power and the ludicrous chase of what we mistakenly believe will make us happy. I truly believe he knows that now.

Dumbies? Really??? You really should spend some time in a bookstore and pick-up a copy of "How To Read & Write for DUMMIES". And by the way....I've read every book written on the subject and talked to seberal people. I still can't decide if he's guilty or not, but he DID get royally screwed by the legal system; to the point that they have added laws like the Stinchcombe ruling to provide disclosure on all evidence....not just the evidence the crown wants everyone to know about. Finding out more about Kujawa, i believe that he had Colin Thatcher guilty long before she was ever murdered. I bet that even with an eye witness, Colin would've been guilty.

There are many psychopaths on the streets and Colin is a prime example...he should possibly still be incarcerated along with the rest of the (jailed) "INNOCENT so-called born again Christians"......
Strange how the victim (JoAnn) is seldom mentioned !
Please stay on your "ranch",sir, and meditate....remember that confession is good for the SOUL !!!

to all those who choose to judge thatcher, last time i checked you weren't privy to all the documents, all the witness testimony nor were you there the night JoAnn Wilson was killed....thus last time I checked you are making judgements on less than all the facts....what if someone showed me some documents that stated trudeau was a soviet spy? would you disbelieve it because you were conditioned to?

please, the media unfairly convicted thatcher before the trial began....and ps, i'm privy to some more info - there will be a judicial review....and kujawa well lets just say he's being looked into.

I certainly hope that Mcleans is going to go and interview the victims in this case to see what they have to say. It seems that Mr. Thatcher has lots of other people to blame. He comes across as a severly personality disorder narcassit. Call him a psychopath. I can't beleive that Mc Leans got fooled by his story. Any real journalist could have seen the flaws in his story. Please do us a favour a talk to the real victims

Obviously, the courts in Regina, SK can’t be fair if a federal employee can feel so strongly that he can get away with anything. That employee would not make such a statement if he didn’t know something that you and I may not know. So just going on this fact it is obvious that the court system in Regina is poorly lacking something.

As I mentioned, in Regina, the same people commit crimes and people know about these individuals. Nevertheless, nothing or little is done about it. Man I would pissed if one of these idiots called me on the phone or came up to me and demanded cash. I guess Colin Thatcher just had a bad day and said a flippant remark to the wrong person.

The issue is: did Thatcher get a fair trial? A fair, honest crown would never withhold evidence; sleazebags would do otherwise. If the trial was fair, it's not unreasonable to ask to look at those files and the evidence. Few people -- with the support of the children of the murder victim -- after spending 20-plus years, say they'd like a new trial. Thatcher's former girlfriend (Lynne Dally), who testified against Thatcher, lied under oath about speaking to Thatcher on the phone soon after the murder. Phone records -- in the possession of the Regina Police at the time of the trial -- were never seen by the jury. That's hardly a fair trial. Crown prosecutor Serge Kujawa should be interviewed about that. Then again, he's given few interviews since he told reporters (paraphrasing here) that even if David Milgaard was innocent he should stay behind bars so the system looks good. Again, the issue is fair trial. All Canadians, whether they're great guys or not great guys, deserve that.

I too feel different about the case than I did in 1984. I believe that he's innocent, and that he was framed. Why else would this be so secret and without disclosure some 20 years later. Someone was out to harm Colin, and the courts appear not to ahve given him the justice he deserved. And as for David Milgard, who was eventually set free, his life was destroyed and the courts, police, etc all expected him to be the killer, they thought they got their man; but clearly did not 25 years later, and so it could easily be with Colin.

You know you’re right, the courts have to provide full disclosure and he can still demand this so you brought up a good point. This just shows that the Regina Court System feels that they are above the law and I’m wondering when this attitude will change.
Concerning the Justice System in Regina, I know of a federal employee that stated to me he could get away with any crime he commits. I am aware of a cover up that took place and is still ongoing for this federal employee. Because, he did commit a crime and he still hasn't been brought to justice. This is one of several reasons why I doubt the situation with Colin Thatcher and wonder if he is innocent.
Yes, I agree there are going to be parts of the case that bring evidence that Colin Thatcher may have been guilty. However, the problems that exist in the Justice System in Regina, SK have brought reasonable doubt into Colins Thatcher’s case.
I have lived here for many years and read about his ex-wife’s death. I couldn’t believe that she was gone and was shocked. What the papers said was that a man killed her and it was not Colin Thatcher. That the courts thought Colin Thatcher had arranged the situation and that was why he was arrested. Therefore, the real killer is still out there and no one has found him. Therefore, if the courts are not providing full disclosure then there has to be other things the Justice System in Regina is doing wrong.

There are three problems with the Thatcher matter.
The first is that the Sask Dept of Justice will not give him his disclosure. Why not? It begs the question of whether they have something to hide.
The second is the odd question the jury asked - did he do it, or have someone else do it. We'll never know what the jury decided, because jury's never have to give reasons.
The third is that the evidence is solid that he did not do it. Did he get someone else to do it? Well, the best the Crown could do was use con's as Witnesses and a forged credit card slip. How about a trial with full disclosure and the right question?

Speyer, what about the witness who saw someone who ran from the garage? The witness described him, the Leader Post had a sketch of the person who ran and it definitely was not Colin Thatcher. As to the transcript with Anderson, Anderson would have been given a list of questions that when answered would give the Crown what they wanted. It wasn't a regular conversation between two so called buddies. Reread it with an open mind.

Man several people in Regina SK are always screwing up and causing problems. Many people know about this but continue to allow those people to cause problems. Even though something can be done to deal with the issues, these people cause. Several individuals in Regina have opted to intimidate others rather than have the truth about known problems found out. This is why I feel that Colin Thatcher never did anything wrong and was actually framed. I can even give several examples that Colin Thatcher can utilize to help further his innocence.

The Canadian Justice System in Regina SK is more about covering up for the people they employed then real justice. The system is actually set up to help cover up for those in employed by different departments rather than looking into the truth about an issue. Heck even a federal employee told me that he could get away with any crime that he commits. He is right because I can cite several crimes that he has committed but have been left untouched. So why Colin Thatcher was picked on I really want to look into.

Nobody looks for the "real" killers when there's a scapegoat rotting behind bars. We only look for a killer when we haven't made an arrest.

Anyway, this article isn't about whether or not he killed her, and he's served alot of time for that whether he did or not. It's about whether or not he should be able to publish a book about his self-proclaimed innocence. It's about a government that rushes to create legislation to censor free speech and stop the public from hearing another side of the story. I imagine they have a few skeletons from that case that they'd like left in the closet -- several of SK's current government caucus are old pals of Colin's.

In the cases of Milgard, Morin and Marshal the real killers were eventually found out. In the case of Thatcher and OJ, they were self absorbed narcistic pychos who believed they were above the law. Unforunately for thier victems they were, for a time . Unfortunately for them, not forever, and are exactly where they shoud be. Shunned.

He will never admit it for a number of reasons...One is that he has repeated the lie for so long now that he believes it himself. His ego will never let him admit to a lie. He also would not want to tarnish the Thatcher name. He is completely unaware that it is too late. He thinks he is smarter than all of us, and that the law doesn't apply to him, only to the common folk.

Milgaard. Morin. Marshall.

They all served decades for crimes they didn't commit. You think they should have hung their heads and accepted this injustice? Made them look guiltier than ever to you, did it?

I'd say the one thing Thatcher still has going for him is his denial, which now that he's served decades and is out, seems stronger than ever before.

Milgaard? Morin? Marshall?

Really, if YOU were incarcerated for a crime you didn't commit, would you just shut up, keep your head down and serve the time? I think that would make you a darn fool.

I see this the opposite of you -- the guy served more than 20 years and still says he didn't do it -- why would he say that publicly if it was not true?

I think that sometimes when a person continuously protest about something, it shows you how guilty they are. Mr. Thatcher have you never heard the term "Let sleeping dogs lie"? Just let us forget about you, we don't care.

Far be it for me to defend the likes of Paul Bernardo, but his MO was always to rape -- without even covering his face -- and walk away. The victims were only killed when Karly Kurls was involved, right? So it's very likely she is indeed the one who killed them -- but she's a pretty blonde girl, so why on earth would our justice system take her to task?

All I can say is, the Justice department here in SK is filled with mavericks. This is the same gang that convicted Milgaard. And the Martensville freak show. I have no idea if Thatcher killed his ex wife, but I certainly see how the Justice department is ready to get him at every turn. Yeah, take all this stuff with a grain of salt -- don't believe the bureaucrats are always right.

Colin never met a law that, in his own mind, applies to him. Assault, murder - you name it - it doesn't apply to him because he is Colin Thatcher. I believe his case was taken to the SCOC and they choose not to look at it further - so unless the whole Canadian justice system is aligned against him (which I don't think it is - he is a man who hated his wife, turned the children against her, and then murdered her) I think he just doesn't like the results and feels that shouldn't apply to him. Big surprise.

I expect McLeans to run a similar story next month on how Paul Bernardo was framed, or how about Charles Manson? Yeah, right.

Someone I know lived across the alley from the garage JoAnn Wilson was murdered in - the killer possibly ran through that yard to escape the scene of his carnage before any alarms sounded. Why was the murder so passionate?? Why was 'the real killer' not brought to justice?? I feel that Colin is as innocent as O.J. Neither of them found a killer although both of them swore to find 'the real killer'.

Another innocent person (he claims) in jail. Funny, the jails are full of so-called innocent prisoners.

i never believed Colin did the crime. Yes, he was a bully in hid day. He was known for his arrogance! I'm of the opinion this matter was not addressed as it should have been. to hide his book only adds to our(the peoples) belief our Justice system is perfect and never ever makes mistakes!!

When a convicted person shows no remorse and continues to deny guilt, parole is normally out of the question.
What happened here?

Shame on Macleans for giving this thug a national platform for his lies.
