Question: Sir, as a Catholic, are you concerned about protesters dressing up in religious garb?

Dominic LeBlanc: I, usually that kind of costume would be reserved for Hallowe’en.  That’s a little over a month from now.  So maybe they’re just a bit early.

Methinks the Catholic Church has some work before it to eliminate the tradition of political leaders claiming the mantle of being "Catholic" while maintaining complete lack of respect adherence to their faith.

      I thought he came across as playfully delegitimizing the protest.

      If he heaped scorn it would have made it a larger issue.

      I think they should first try to eliminate the tradition of priests claiming the mantle of being 'Catholic' while maintaining a complete lack of respect or adherence to their supposed faith before they go after the politicians.

      Methinks the Catholic Church should worry about who in their organization is still molesting children first.

      M. Leblanc was responding to a question about protesters "dressing up" in religious habits, not about those who legitimately wear such clothing. Surely questioning the man's respect for or adherence to his "supposed" faith is an inappropriate response.

    I am old, I am catholic, I go to church every week and I don't remember the last time I saw catholic nuns in habits. Maybe it was in 1968, when I completed my studies with les mères de la Congrégation de Notre-Dame. Their habit was quite interesting: it had a high pointy white peak on the head, and a long pointy white peak at the chin.

      Agreed. My understanding is that very few nuns wear a habit anymore. Depending on the order of course, but few orders in Canada, anyway, still wear the habit.
