T/T – but in light of your democracy seriies, this made me think. Mr. Wells, do you think former PM's – Mulroney, Chretien, etc. should be involved with choosing nominees or involved other than advice if ?

    • Canuckistanian

or, what about former MPs controlling nominations Tammany-style? That is a much bigger problem.

Whoops – sorry for another typ o – meant to say "O/T".

No excuse, but my new Dell keyboard (only a few months old) has lost the paint on the keys and I'm now missing most of my letters.

Ten or twenty bucks. Trip to store. New keyboard. You're welcome.

Time machine. Typing course back in school when young. No need for new keyboard. You're welcome.

Meanwhile, Jean-Marc Fournier, a former provincial Liberal minister, is working as a strategist for Mr. Ignatieff, and Marc-André Blanchard, a former president of the provincial Liberal Party, will co-chair the Liberal campaign in Quebec.__Further, have a look at this cyberpresse article today, well-timed, in which Fournier is interviewed. Sounds like things are actually going quite well for the PLC in Quebec. Fournier has now been "Senior Advisor" to Ignatieff for two weeks and that timing may or may not be coincidental to some of the goings on in the background with the Outremont machinations.____All may not be as it appears on the surface today, something to keep in mind.____h/t blogger: Impolitical____but, the media won't move on will they? Na, because one riding is more important that 307 other ridings…..

I fearlessly repeat the prediction I made right here one week ago to-day:

"Ignatieff should have a tremendous future in politics – just not Canadian politics."

If only he had pulled Coderre up short then or kept his mouth shut …

i'm not really a Coderre backer, but Iggy made a blunder by going back on his word. And anyway, who wants to see the old liberals back at it. I don't want Dion, Cauchon ,the old Chretiens etc. We need new blood and I think maybe Coderre would have made a difference

And anyway, who wants to see the old liberals back at it.

      Me , I'm selfish that way .

Coderre is just an attention-grabber, a "small" politician who thrives on the kind of low politics we usually see at the municipal level. He gets elected in a federalist county which would vote for a pig painted in red. Once dubbed "Kid Coderre" for his lis love for the cameras, you can be certain he will not rest quietly and swallow the pill. Saying that the LPC is headed by a small clique in Toronto just gave the Bloc a few more counties. I am a sovereignist and I am very happy he said this obvious truth, and knowing how he is, he is not about to disappear in the shadows, he will do everything he can to get more attention, which can only be damaging to the LPC, especially in light for the impending elections. He might just have given the PC a majority. Cheers to my Canadian friends!

you're right…..I always thought what you are saying about Coderre….but he's been getting so much attention in the past couple of years that it overshadowed my original thoughts. Thanks !

Coderre is pretty darn stupid, and is making himself look bad. It's always amazed me that such boors can get ahead.

Somewhere (probably Phoenix), Shane Doan is smiling.
