The Office is certainly a show I like to watch. The fact that the entire cast has to be on the set during all scenes is noticeable. It seems that the actors are able to better get into their roles. I appreciate your work..

There was a time I really loved 30 Rock; I think it was one of the better comedies on television. Nowadays however there are some many other great shows to watch, it is difficult to chose. Modern Family is absolutely a marvel. Great post.

Absolutely. Comedy is on a tear this year. Modern Family is sublime. But don't discount Community, Cougar Town, The Middle and Glee. Psych also seems to have upped its game this year.

It's good times for the funny business.

I'm not getting the love for "Modern Family". It just seems to be about people having awkward moments due to conflicts between various forms of douchebaggery.

The best sitcom on TV is "Community" though it may not have a deeply sustainable premise.

30 Rock is far and away the best comedy on TV. (How you can say, after one episode, that it is showing signs of another uneven season – have you seen the episodes you have already declared uneven? – is beyond me.) The comedy is daring and often off-the-wall, and I disagree that the characters are not fully formed. All of the main characters are excellent. I love The Office, but it is in decline, especially when you compare it to earlier episodes. Modern Family is good, but unproven yet. As far as I'm concerned, there is only one great comedy on TV right now, and that is 30 Rock.

There is no doubt that Modern Family is the best comedy on TV now. Though I have always like 30 Rock I have never understood the over the top accolades. It's a funny show most of the time but when you look at the greats like Seinfeld, Taxi, Cheers,etc. it doesn't compare. And The Office is far better.

I've never really broken it down from a critical point of view – I just know that when I press play on the PVR, I'm going to laugh fairly regularly for the following 22 minutes.

Modern Family – by far the best comedy on television. Glee brings something new and refreshing. It remembers that the name of the game is entertainment. While Parks and Rec is getting better, its still a long way off from 30 Rock.

Um, doesn't this describe most comment sections on the Internet? I've pretty much given up on commenting on Maclean's political blogs for this reason, with the word "show" replaced by "political party".

If it makes you feel better about not getting many comments, and for the most part only getting reasonable ones, I could question your credentials as a tv critic. I know you love that. :P

By the way, the A.V. Club has a pretty good review of the most recent Glee episode, with some interesting thoughts on the unevenness. Oh, I tried to post this earlier, so sorry if it shows up twice later.
