Children hugging a man. Yep. Totally "creepy" Dakota.

    • Dakota

Hugging and being kissed by a strange old man isn't creepy?

As creepy as a PM who OK's ads where a puffin poops on his opponent? To me, that kind of juvenile behaviour in a party wanting to chart the course of our lives is creepy.

Get your mind out of the gutter dear. It looks innocent enough and I'm sure there were sufficient witnesses to ensure the kids safety. OK?

Would you prefer he shook hands with the kids? Not creepy, but weird.

Sweet. They thought he was Count Chocula.

Funny how the feeling-some-heat CONbots now see moments of authentic warmth as being 'creepy' or 'staged photo ops" were all high-fivin themselves a couple of weeks ago when their so-called leader got slathered in makeup and plopped behind a piano to belt out a tune to a crowd of rich gala-goers. Now that was suppose to be an 'election-turner', a critical moment in showing 'warmth' and 'authenticity'… Most liberal supporters I know begrudgingly said that it seemed like a masterstroke — it certainly added a new dimension to Harper's image — but there was nothing spontaneous about it. As Harper himself knows, you wade into a crowd of toddlers and you take your chances; nose tweeks, loud outbursts and complete anarchy are all part of the possibilities.
You CONbots were rubbing your hands together, spamming everyone with the youtube clip. You know you'd be doing the same if that group-hug had been a nose-tweek or pratfall.
I suggest you guys stop reading your CONbloogers version of committee disruption handbook and try to imagine yourself as free-thinking Canadians again. Just for a moment.

Seems that this little vid is a real winner if all these overreactions, distortions, and channel changing are any indication.

If wouldn't want a strange old man kissing on my child…but that's just me.

  • Dakota

Take a look at Iggy's face in that still shot of the clip…yuck…

Its getting a ton of cred by the two dozen Wherry regs.

Vince, I think it was more like Count Chocula.

I think that we are in a very strange situation right now, if anything in politics can be described as strange. We saw Dion, who was generally considered virtuous by the press – and everything the Liberals needed to redeem their self-styled superiority – make a desperate looking lunge for power that was viewed by the public as contemptible.

Then, as the Liberals looked to be in total disarray, they hastily anoint The Next One. Unfortunately, the Next One quickly became totally disoriented by the unpredictable world of politics, where every word you speak comes under attack. Suddenly, the man with intellectual audacity became The Aimless One. Until he came up with the Big Plan. Except that there was no Big Plan, there was only a plan to make the Big Plan.

Meanwhile, the Conservatives, forced into a wild spending spree, get a free ride from the public on fiscal stewardship, and all the voter happiness that comes with Big Spending. On top of that, Harper puts the boots to the fear-mongering the opposition was casting on his character, and the Ontario Liberal bastion, falls. What next, Justin Trudeau crossing the floor?

I dont know….looks normal to me, only the details change.

Systemically, the Libs need to rebuild, only part of which was money. I still say if you wanted to do a rebuild they would have been better ot put Bob rae in charge….only because he is a better performer in the House but more importantly knew the steps required to make the party machinery run….including picking candidates, delegating to the right people and holding them accountable (because he knows what the right set p looks like) Iggy is learning.

Iggy should have accepted that he was learning and not pushed so hard for an election. But when you have no confidence in yourself then you are a creature of advisors, who ultimately arent accountable. Like cockroaches the back room boys/girls will live to fight another day.

He has swallowed the medicine, backing off, he should now make the price he has paid worth something….a functioning party that owes him not the other way around. Find ways to shuffle out those who arent performing to our expectation (including friends), punish disloyalty and get the deliverables you desire, policy, organization and resources. In other words, act like Harper.

I should have been clearer about what I felt was strange. That is that we have a situation where the Conservative's are getting a media free-ride, traditionally a seat reserved for the Liberals, and the Liberals are depicted as failing at every turn. Largely, this is due to the fact that Ignatieff is working at about a 10% comfort level, so the public is just not buying what he is selling. If he shifts to something he is more comfortable selling, he risks alienating much of his own party.

Your points about his vulnerabilities as a novice politician are well taken, and they will only be overcome with time. If he gets it.

  • Sigh

The objections were to the nasty insinuations you made as a result of not knowing very much about Ignatieff's children.

    Eeeeww.

  • Mike514

You tell 'em, Dan! How dare anyone doubt the sincerity of a politician's actions? Let's all be free-thinking Canadians by not questioning Ignatieff's actions.

Supid CON SUPPORTE… sorry, I forgot to turn the caps lock off. I always write CON with capital letters, because I always scream it out. Kind of like when Shatner yelled out Khan. Whenever I watch that movie, I like to think Shatner is actually yelling CON instead of Khan.
