A colleague of mine was hired as a writer. He wasn't sure he wanted to leave Canada, though. He went to the first story meeting, and after a few minutes asked for a break so he could go to the bathroom. Bypassing the bathroom, he headed right out the door of the office, flagged a cab to the airport, and never looked back.

I read the book this week, and recommend it to any fan of the show. Lots of good stuff in there, especially the chapter on Conan, which I suppose is revealing of his character but mostly is just hugely entertaining. That said, I thought the book suffered from the author's incessant insertion of his own views, opinions and conclusions. Kind of weird to criticize an author for offering his perspective in his own book, but I find oral histories tend to work best when you're left to draw your own conclusions from the artfully arranged quotes and recollections. Not in this book, alas.
