Saved by the Bell is pretty much the '80s in its distilled, purest form, even though only a few episodes actually aired in the '80s. It fascinates me that the original cast's final outing aired after Kurt Cobain's death. Even towards the end of The New Class, there was still a strong musk of that decade about it, and this was post-turn-of-the-millennium.

Freaks & Geeks could be on the overall "Best of the Decade" list, which just adds to the confusion. That said, I enjoy making "Best of" lists, even if they are kind of arbitrary. I was trying to write a "My Favorite TV Shows of the Decade" list, and I couldn't decide if I wanted to include Angel or not, because of it started in 1999.
