In the mid-'80s both of Pink Floyd’s front men, Roger Waters and David Gilmour, were branching out and releasing solo projects. But where Gilmour wanted to continue to produce music with Pink Floyd, Rogers thought the band had grown stale. He quit, and tried to prevent his band mates from producing any music under their namesake. He was unsuccessful, and after several court battles, decided to cut his losses and officially left the group in 1985.
