First there was the double-arm handshake (one shaking, one holding onto the recipient's arm) then there were the moments during the official welcoming ceremony in St. John's when Governor General Michaëlle Jean appeared to be shepherding Charles and Camilla around as if they were kids on a playground. Canadians appreciate that the GG gets up close and personal with ordinary citizens. But it was a faux pas to get tactile with those who know how to comport themselves at important events.
