A growing number of kids can't listen to a complete track, let alone an album. Their way of listening to music is to skip thru a CD or iPod playlist. It drives me crazy! It's as if their way of experiencing the music is to fidget with the controls.
A friend recommended this article to me and asked, since I work with kids, if I've noticed the A.D.D. in music listening with this generation. Typically, a student might ask to listen to a CD while a light study session is ongoing. I will say 'yes', but insist (even if I'm not a fan of the genre) once the music starts, it is to left untouched -- no skipping tracks or jumping ahead 1/2 way through a song. Sadly, it's a difficult process--after a couple of tracks, another student will 'diss' that music and insist that he/she has a better disc to play. The cycle repeats.
Part of the problem is that the music IS boring - electro hip-hop with computerized drums and lo-iq organ accompaniment, or heavy rock played at one (loud) volume throughout - it is tedious. Kids have been fed musical junkfood and don't know any better - it's part of what I call "cultural illiteracy".

Yale fox is a douchebag - as leading online magazine XLR8R .com says

"Really though, if you are a DJ, producer, musician, or any such creative talent, you probably should refrain from completely discrediting your art by turning it into a f****ing 'self-starter's guide to pandering to the lowest common denominator and getting paid while doing it,' unless you want a snarky article posted about you on the internet."

Content aside, "trolling blogs" does not mean what you think it means, Macleans. In the context of "blogs" and really anything relating to the internet, "trolling" means to purposefully antagonize others. I hope your DJ doesn't do this...

I'm afraid to go out of the house, and I always listen to a song till the end. All my radio presets are the same station and I listen to the same commercials over and over again.

Maybe this guy just isn't a very good DJ, but lots of guys still mix with vinyl and have no problem losing their dance floor when they switch records.
Also, MP3s sound like crap, which is the whole point of spinning with vinyl. Perhaps he should also write a paper on how kids these days can't hear properly either.
