Perhaps the strongest supporters in the UK have a PM that is in some deep political trouble and probably unable to do much even if he wanted to. Add to this that NATO allies in Eastern Europe have recently been shown the true value of American friendship with a major concession to Russia on a nuclear defense shield. This coming right after strong support from Eastern Europe (at least from governments) for both the Afghanistan and Iraq wars has left a deep sense of betrayal that just can not translate to more troops sent. With Canada already leaving and the Conservatives not looking to ramp up a divisive issue, especially with realistic sites set on a majority, I just don’t see where Obama actually expects this support to come from.
