Michael Ignatieff gave a speech about the environment yesterday, the prepared text of which is here. The Gargoyle points to Stephen Gordon’s analysis here.

"Oh, and I must scold Ms Taber for this throwaway paragraph in the Globe story I linked to:

The Liberals lost badly in the last election, partly as a result of Mr. Dion’s complicated Green Shift plan that would put a tax on carbon. It was not communicated well; Canadians did not understand it.

The Green Shift was NOT complicated: carbon taxes up, other taxes down. What's so hard to understand? Indeed, it was a model of clarity and precision when compared to the muddled schemes that the Conservatives and the NDP were selling."

Too bad the "journalists" around here (and elsewhere) don't have the stones to say that enough about any of your "colleagues" when they make the same baseless assertions, over and over again.

That's because it's in your interests to make the rest of us feel that were too stupid to understand simple things.

How things have changed from a year ago. These days, nobody seems terribly interested in the Liberals' new environmental strategy. I wonder what Stephane Dion thinks about Ignatieff's speech, which appears to be the final nail in the coffin of Dion's beloved carbon tax.

"These days, nobody seems terribly interested in the Liberals' new environmental strategy."

That's rather definite. Don't you types usually say "most Canadians" when you're speaking for everyone else?

"These days, nobody around here seems terribly interested in the Liberals' new environmental strategy."

There, fixed that for you. Happy now?

No. It's not like you're the only who says things like that, in that way.

          It's a pandemic.

I just had a thought! What if Obama wants a carbon tax next year say? Who do you think would be the only politician in canada that could actually get the legislation through the house would be? … the horror the sheer horror of the irony!
