My wife and I are also retired and we travel quite frequently through and to the US. We have never felt unsafe in the airports. Anything can happen anywhere if someone is determined enough, let's face it. Our last holiday was to visit family in FL and we had a wonderful trip!

We love Florida but have given up flying to the USA. We are retired and can effort to travel a lot. Even on our, now more frequent, flights to Europe and Central/South America we make sure that there no stopovers in the US. Knowing that there is no way to prevent the bringing on board of explosives in body cavities, short of X-raying every passenger, it is totally ridiculous to subject passengers to the presently in place procedures, half measures that they are. It is just a matter of time until a suicide bomber will succeed. The Detroit incident was so ineptly and dilletanticly executed to be almost comical, were it not for the almost very tragic consequences. Lets face it : There is no safe flying to the US of A !! They simply have to many enemies. Good luck !
