Makes sense

Conservative MP Pat Davidson says it would be wrong to suggest proroguing Parliament means MPs will be on holiday. Conservative MP Gary Schellenberger says the proroguing of Parliament means he can take some time off to enjoy the Olympics.

Mr. Schellenberger admitted he may try to take two or three weeks off during the Winter Olympic Games and may try to get to Vancouver if he can find accommodation.

The Olympics in Canada were another good reason to prorogue Parliament, he added. ”If we are sitting, how do MPs get to those events,” he said of the Olympic games. “It makes sense that we are not sitting.”

I hear that Brian Burke is planning to Prorogue the Toronto Maple Leafs until March. Heck if it works for the government, maybe the Toronto Maple Leafs could recalibrate too.

Ouch! The day has come when Biff has more credibility with Maclean's commenters than our Prime Minister does. Not saying you're wrong, Craigola, just that it's sad.

I also like how his quote suggests he can be an MP via phone, just like our PM can 'suspend democracy' via phone…

Mr. Schellenberger should be working for his constituents every working day. Get back to work.

Talk about arrogance and being privileged. I can't wait for the next round of pathetic excuses from the conservative camp.

If prorogueing is not a vacation so they can attend the olympics, attending the Olympics must be work?

HE`S Never done anything useful while he is working for us so let him go on his own dime of course

as a member of his riding, i agree. He's done absolutely nothing except make stupid comments, and attend any function he can, provided its got lots of food and beer. Oh, or go to a grade 5 class where he can prattle on about nothing and avoid answering tough questions.

Hmmm…..Harper's supposed to be an economist. We all know that the period of time of prorogation is "tax" time. The financial people will be working their butts off, weekends, overtime to get out those T4's/T5's and all that good tax stuff

Perhaps the financial industry and employers should take that time off for the Olympics and to hell with Ottawa receiving taxes due.
