Golden Globe Awards - Great people has achieved it many times. And I was very much impressed with the below content.

And for the stars, this dress rehearsal for the Academy Awards is way more fun and less formal than Oscar night. They can get loaded on champagne then let the emotions fly on the podium. Plus it brings together film and TV, even though the TV folk get treated like minor league players.

I don't think any rational person could really believe that Brian Johnson was knowingly trying to be offensive or malicious by his comments. News of Michael Hall's condition and treatment only became widely known one week before the Golden Globes.

The real blunder here was the attempt to suppress that the comment happened at all. I'm surprised and disturbed that the call to remove the comments without acknowledgment was made by Maclean's editors. One would have thought they would have a better sense of ethics and propriety.

At any rate, I commend Brian Johnson and the editors for the clarifying statement (and apology, although, as I said before, I believe it was an honest mistake).

I applaud Mr. Johnson for apologizing and admitting that his editors removed the offensive remark as well as some of the comments readers posted about it. I also applaud fellow Macleans readers for staying on Mr. Johnson and Macleans until an apology was issued. Nothing wrong with saying sorry!

As a cancer survivor, I can understand the honest mistake that Brian didn't know about Michael Hall's condition. However, it's despicable that he did not acknowledge his mistake, issue a genuine apology, and own up to the fact that his mistake was amateur at best.

I didn't know about Michael C. Hall's cancer treatment either, and wondered about the toque. It is somewhat forgivable for the author to have made the same mistake. HOWEVER, I can't believe that Maclean's then allowed the article to be edited to remove any mention of Michael C. Hall or his 'psycho' toque, and then deleted all related reader comments without so much as an explanation or apology. This really has be questioning the magazine's editorial integrity.

It's an honest mistake that Brian D. Johnson was unaware of Hall's cancer.

However, I completely agree with MikeB's comment regarding altering the original article. That is COMPLETELY unethical. How can Maclean's editorial policy justify this un-remarked change.

Brian, you made a mistake. Note it and comment about it. You don't try to obliterate it from reality like a coward. Besides, as others have pointed out. That won't work either.

Whether or not he had heard the news, it was clear that Michael C. Hall was ill. He was so pale and his eyebrows were practically gone! And we've seen him enough to know that he isn't some kid who wears ski caps out to events. He looked like someone who was ill and was covering up his bald head. Shame on Brian Johnson for being so flippant and so stupid.

Upon seeing a pale Hall wearing a toque I would think the first thought would be to do a quick google search - Michael C Hall and cancer perhaps?? I agree, the comment needed to remain, with an apology.

I guess the "D" in Brian D Johnson is for "delete".

Clueless, maybe, but insensitive, no. Obviously he would not knowingly mock someone with cancer.

I suspect that he is mortified.

Rather than remove the offensive comment regarding Michael C. Hall (I honestly can't believe an arts and entertainment reporter had not heard the widely-reported news about Hall's battle with cancer, by the way), I wish Johnson had left the remark up and added an apology for his cluelessness and insensitivity. Like a previous poster, I also wonder what else Macleans removes from online articles.

This is the classless commented he removed as published on Gawker - "Michael C. Hall wins best actor in a TV drama series for Dexter. He looks like a bit of a psycho cause he's wearing a black toque. What's up with that"

For an 'arts' reporter, you don't seem to know much about film & tv. I see you took down the crack about Michael C Hall's headwear, obviously you didn't know about his cancer. Also, Cher and Aguilera were there to promote the movie they are shooting, called "Burlesque".

I think Brian was drunker than half the attendees when he wrote this. That said, I thought Ricky Gervais was hilarious. His penchant for making people uncomfortable as David Brent on The Office was obviously just him and not the script.
