Use Google and True Love is Guaranteed

Of the Super Bowl commercials we didn’t get to see in Canada because simulcasters are out to get us, this Google ad — demonstrating how their system can create a romance between a French girl and a guy who uses the computer way too much — was the most acclaimed. Josh Schwartz, creator of Chuck and Gossip Girl, called it “maybe the best commercial I’ve ever seen. Incredible storytelling. Genius.” It is a pretty good illustration in how you can tell a genuinely visual, dynamic story without any people.

    Wow, that's very good. Short and fast, and yet several life-changing events.

    Someone worked very hard on this to say a lot in a short time.

    It is a good ad, it gets across what Google does and many of us are suckers for a love story.

    The only problem I see is: In France all marriages must be performed by civil authority (and not by the church).

    That's what a bit of google-fu revealed to me… so… did they show that they do not know how to use their own search engine? ;-)

    I must be made of cold cold stone. Everyone I know is raving about this ad giving them goosebumps, and it seems only okay to me. Sure, it's a bit clever and contains some nice sentiment but that's it. Clever and sentimental do not a mind blow.
