Jon Stewart eviscerates Glenn Beck, one tick at a time

In a break from his normal show’s pattern, Jon Stewart became Glenn Beck to show the insanity of the Fox host’s ideology—Beck’s latest riff is that any Christian who believes in social justice is actually a follower of Stalin or Hitler. As Stewart says: “If you subscribe to an idea, you also subscribe to that idea’s ideology and to every possible negative consequence that that ideology even remotely implies when you carry it to absurd extremes.”

Stewart nailed it last night. This was so good I watched it twice as couldn't hear half of it from laughing so hard. Hope Beck appreciates Jon's interpretation as much as I did.

Beck is a disease that's spreading through America. It's scary that people eligible to vote actually believe that lunatic.

It's scary that any liberal is allowed to vote. You'd think once they hit voting age they realize they're not entitled to anything from anyone else.

in canada they don't use the word liberal to insult people, it doesn't really work since the liberal party has been in power so often …however in canada i would be considered a conservative but a democrat in the usa …the republican party to for a while seemed to be hijacked by some christians fundamentalists and certainly not fiscal conservatives… right now nobody knows for sure what they stand for except not wanting health care for their people

i love the juxtaposition of two ideological approaches. rob says its scary that eligible voters that believe what Beck [read the far right] says are scary. in turn Ryan suggests that liberals should be disenfrachised.

What I love is that whe a fight like this is reported in the media, both sides are treated a equivalent.

I didn't find the Daily Show parody of Beck very funny, partly because Stewart isn't much of an actor…but mostly because you can't really parody a parody.

Conservatives, who by-in-large vote based on ignorance and/or self-interest, fail to grasp that there are others in their society who do not vote based on either. Believe it or not, there are people out there who genuinely believe that we should help each other out, and that we all need to pitch in to help the less fortunate. People who vote for parties with a social conscience are often middle class or higher, and just don't have the same problems sharing that conservatives do.

Really, it's something you were meant to learn in kindergarden.

And a society in which no one owed anyone else anything would basically look like Mad Max (or any other anarchic world – pick your favourite). Civilized society is based on exchanging some selfishness for the benefits that the collective provides.

I can not believe how seemingly polarized it is in the U.S. right now, people like Beck and Palin have rabid followers that apparently don't even listen to what these loons are actually espousing. As long as it's anti-government, anti-Obama anti-sense then it's all good. I have never watched Glenn Beck and after watching a few clips via Jon Stewart I don't think I could handle it. His paranoid, delusional ranting theories are frankly scary. Not scary so much in what crackpot theories he has developed but the fact that he has a show on a television network and people actually listen to him without question. There is a very dangerous trend developing where the mindset seems to be your either right or left, I suppose it's human nature to tribalize but blindly accepting some one because he's on your side is plotting your own demise.

I totally agree with you. I have watched Beck once in a while and I wonder what planet he is from and where he gets his facts………………but then I'm from Canada and as an "outsider" see things from a different standpoint…..good luck!__

I thought his evisceration of Olbermann was much funnier, especially since it's a higher imperative to ridicule "news" anchors who demagogue than pundits.
