Meet Craig Ferguson's Robot Sidekick

by Jaime Weinman on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 7:48pm - 7 Comments

Last night, further cementing his status as the most interesting talk-show host — certainly the one who plays the most games with the medium and the format — Craig Ferguson, who has long complained about his show’s low budget and the lack of a sidekick, introduced his “robot skeleton sidekick,” Geoff Peterson, built specially for him by the guy from Mythbusters. And put him on the couch. I think my favourite part of that is just the decision to give this mohawked skeleton robot a name as prosaically normal as “Geoff Peterson.” Sometimes a normal name is funnier than a funny name.

Also, in that clip, the audience (some of it anyway) applauds when Kristen Bell mentions Small Wonder. That proves audiences will applaud anything.

Craig is the funniest late night show host on TV these days. His humour pushes the envelope. Thank God for PVRs is all I can say!

He and Kristen Bell are hilarious together. I laughed at the robot too, but much of that was nervous laughter.

Aaargh! I PVR Letterman every night, then record the opening of Ferguson, but for some reason I only got the first half hour of Letterman Monday night/Tuesday morning. "Oh well, Letterman was a repeat, what would I have missed on the Late, Late Show?" The robot's introduction, that's all.

"but for some reason I only got the first half hour of Letterman Monday night/Tuesday morning"

      NCAA basketball game went long.

If you type in the keywords 'craig ferguson' on Youtube, you'll find that a wonderful person with the moniker 'Malinky2Stoatir' uploads each episode of the Late Late Show (in 5 or 6 segements) later in the day after each episode airs. Malinky's a lifesaver for many of Craig's fans. :)

I have always felt Craig would feel much more at home in Canada, our censorship laws are much more suited to him
