Do horizontal stripes make you look fat, or is it vertical? Ahh, never mind – this is Canada. Do both.

On a different subject, PM Harper is off to Washington DC for the Nuclear Summit tomorrow.

Strangely, the US President doesn't appear to be meeting with Harper, at least not according to this schedule (http://fpc.state.gov/139963.htm). Maybe, they will meet in the washroom or something.

Anyone know what Harper will be doing there or who he will be meeting with?

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/Mike514 Mike514

He'll probably meet with the 49 other heads of state.

And it's probably a safe bet that the president will meet with the PM. Do you really believe the two won't meet simply because there's no bilateral meeting scheduled? It's also the case for Italy, France, Belgium, Australia, and several dozen other countries. I would expect Obama to meet with all of them, despite no bilateral meetings scheduled.

But I agree: Obama not holding a bilateral meeting with Harper (along with 42 other heads of state) will certainly ring alarm bells for some, most acutely in the Canadian media. I expect headlines to scream about irrelevant, blown-out-of-proportion details that will overshadow the actual substance of the conference. Especially bathroom- and picture-related incidents. Those are most important.

      Dick Cheney, I expect.

Anyone know what Harper will be doing there or who he will be meeting with?

Is there a new Tim Hortons opening in DC?

      • Ted

If there is, Harper will take credit for it, just like he took credit for Tim Horton's staying in Canada.

These two together makes sense. Critics laugh, yet they are consistently successful.

"Nickelback are a gnarled, vulgar band reveling in their ignorance of the very notion of taste, lacking either the smarts or savvy to wallow in bad taste so they just get ugly, knocking out knuckle-dragging riffs that seem rarefied in comparison to their thick, boneheaded words."

So True! Blues – I call it the Sarah Palin effect .. for some reason certain people drive left wing loonies completely crazy – it's a true mark of outstanding leadership ability and I find it to be a particualrly endearing quality!

      • Blues Clair

Eghads! My comment has ensnared a wingnut.

  • http://nottawa.blogspot.com Mark

This photo is easily explained. PMO probably thinks Nickelback is an anti-GST lobby group.

  • Terren

Sure, take our PM and put him beside the best representative of white trash middle of the road Canada.
    YUCK.

    • Mike T.

My mind is made up. Obviously the critics calling Wherry a partisan hack were right all along!

    • Ted

Sure, take one of most successful muscians and put him beside the best representative of white trash middle of the road Canada. YUCK.

      • sbt

Harper's NAC performance was alright but I would hardly call him one of our most successful musicians.

Remember when the Harpers tried to connvince us that they listened to Rural Alberta Advantage?

Re: Tiggy's breaking news of a 10 point Conservative lead in the latest Ipsos-Reid poll.

A few comments. The Liberals have been chasing barking up the wrong tree on things like Afghan detainees etc. The economy is getting stronger. Iggy's been in the news a lot lately.

That's why the poll numbers showing the Conservatives with a comfortable 10 point lead. And of those factors, the last one is the really the Conservative's ace in the hole.

    • Blues Clair

      Is that you Darrell Bricker?

    • MacLean's Regular

      "Chasing barking."

    • Ted

No, he was just back from the red collar protest rally in Québec City.

Don't scare me like that Wherry, I thought you were serious for a moment.

  • Lord Kitchener's Own

Looked at from another angle, having Chad Kroeger as Governor General could provide Canadians with an invaluable public service.

What a small price to pay to guarantee no new albums from Nickelback until 2015.

  • Cam

Aaron please pull a Taber and breathlessly tell us about the PM's weight loss. Whoops, looks like you weren't fast enough.

He got heavy again. Working on a hockey book will do that.
