    I also notice how close you must have gotten to the action in a lot of these pictures… were you at all tense or nervous when you were out in the open like that?

    I'm curious — how fluent are the Canadian and US soldiers in the Afghan language?

    They're not fluent…and there is no "Afghan" language. There are more than 10 different mainstream dialects…pashtun and dhari are the most frequently spoken amoung those in Kandahar. I'm not sure if the CF even has 1 fluent soldier in Pashtun.

      Yes they do! He is with the RCR at Petawawa and drives a Nyala.

    There was an article in a paper or magazine a few days ago about a Canadian soldier who has learned Pashtun. They are teach courses on it, as well, at whatever that military school is in Kingston.
