    Good going british petroleum. Aren't you glad you didn't spring for the £250,000 valve that would have prevented this? Don't you make like £250,000 a minute?

    Oh honey, THE WORLD KNOWS IT'S YOUR FAULT. No one thought it's was anyone else. You wish they did, but they didn't. And the fact that you lied to the President and the world on April 20, 21, 22, 23,24,25,26,27,28,29,30 AND, May 1, 2, 3,4 Just endears you to us. All those days when you said it was okay, and you were handling,not to worry. And I'm so glad you did this during this political climate.

    One little item that made the news in the Globe and Mail yesterday was the fact that Transocean, owner of the rig that went down in flames in the Gulf of Mexico, didn't pay its top executives a bonus last year. This was to "underscore the company's commitment to safety" after four of its workers died accidentally in 2009.

    What Transocean neglected to tell us was that its Chief Executive Officer Robert Long's compensation package totalled $15.2 million dollars in 2009 prior to his retirement. The package comprised of a salary of $1.2 million, $5.7 million in stock awards and $4.3 million in option awards. Yes, he certainly got $0 as his non-equity incentive plan compensation but I don't think he's going to have too much trouble living on the $15.2 million he did get.

    Fair? A resounding no. Misleading the public? A resounding yes.

    No doubt Al Gore will use this opportunity to demand gullible people buy more indulgences…er…I mean carbon credits from his phony Maydoff scheme to "save the world". Meanwhile ordinary people, many of them local fishermen will end up doing the heavy lifting of cleaning up the mess while Gore and a lot of other con artists cash in on it. The oil company should pay every last dime for their needless stupidity. Unfortunately for the hucksters containment and dispersal efforts have apparently reduced the size of the slick. We had one of the worlds first major spills in Cape Breton in the 70's. The "experts" claimed it would take 175 years to recover. Hasn't been a drop of oil seen there in decades. Cheers.

    To Mark Peters:

    This is still the worst spill with 130 million gallons or 4 million tons spilled to date. Fish are not going to come back to the gulf for 100 years. And we do not have much more oil left.

    Although things are better than they were, I think this environmental disaster is a great opportunity for the US and Canada to spend on innovation and green technology grants. It would also be nice if our leaders find a way to make sure that China + other emerging countries do not industrialize like we did.
