Someone should do something to make things somehow better

This video has been posted to YouTube under the headline “Jason Kenney calls for more civility in the House.” It features two of the more prominent members of Parliament lamenting for the tone and tenor of debate in Ottawa and if you look closely you can just about make out the halos that hang above each’s head.

and if you look closely you can just about make out the halos that hang above each’s head.

Only if by "halo" you mean "refraction of light from the mirrors (look who's talking) and pot lights surrounding the makeshift studio"

In other news, Tiger Woods calls for a return to marital fidelity, BP laments the environmental damage caused by offshore drilling and Bernie Madoff waxes philosophical about the responsibilities a financial planner has to his clients.

I can't wait to read Mr. Kenney's new foreward when the Tories' Committee Dispuption Manual goes paperback.

Heh: "Dispuption", I'm guessing, is a portmanteau of "dispeptic" and "disruption".

Which makes it the perfect word to describe what that manual achieves.

Both LeBlanc and Kenney and the interviewer, Clark, all agreed that one of the big problems with Question Period is the role of the media. The desire of the media to always lead with the sensational fluff story encourages MP`s to act in a sensational fluffy manner.
Witness the dog to a bone reaction of the media to the Guergis-Jaffer affair and the subsequent actions in Parliament.
Good of Mr. Wherry to recognize the problems within his profession.

Abuse of immunity for media 30 second clips.
Would Marlene Jennings call Helena and Jaffer
    'Bonnie and Clyde' outside Parliament?

  • Wallace Cleaver

The desire of the media to always lead with the sensational fluff story encourages MP`s to act in a sensational fluffy manner.

So if the media always led with stories about cute puppy dogs, it would encourage more MPs to sit up and beg in Question Period?

And here I thought our MPs were supposed to be leaders, not followers. Silly me.

I think if you told Wayne Easter that the media wanted to lead with cute puppy dogs, then he would allow
Iggy to collar and leash him in to the House.
Sorry if I caused you to envision that sight.

If Harper presents his excuses to Marlene Jennings, Lucienne Robillard, Navdeep Bains and Paul Martin, then, maybe, the Liberal should think of adopting a more civil tone.

And the Maclean's comment board quickly degenerates into a textual analogue of Parliament's Question Period… Irony, anyone?

  • Lord Kitchener's Own

When the government talks like this these days it always reminds me of the bully in grade school who puts you in a headlock and then beats you with your own limbs.

"Why are you hitting yourself? You should stop hitting yourself. I just don't understand why you keep slamming your arm into your head, over and over and over again…"

Considering the Conservatives are the biggest problem this is quit insulting.

Actually all parties are a disgrace. They just foaming at the mouth, spin, slime, sleaze, blame, scandals…a complete joke. They are all an embarrassment to the entire country, not to mention these treasonous bloc heads collecting a nice big fat English speaking pay check monthly, what a waste of money, what a joke this country has become.
