A rescue operation has been launched off the coast of Madagascar in search of a 16-year-old American sailor who’s gone missing in the Indian Ocean. Abby Sunderland is believed to have triggered the emergency beacons on her boat after running into turbulent waters about 400 miles from the nearest boat. Sunderland started her solo trek around world in January despite warnings that the trip would take her through the Southern Hemisphere during winter.
