The Canadian rate is 610 properties broken into per 100,000 population, but an astonishing 53 of the top 100 cities have rates worse than the national average.

    YET ANOTHER example of the legalized robbery by the insurance companies. Peel Region rates 95th in the country, almost 50% lower chance of being a victim BUT, my house insurance rates go UP by 25%!!

    Okay, someone like to propose a logical extrapolation of that logic??

      The only problem with this report is that it is based on reported break and enters, in the GTA and probably most major cities you don't call the cops, it's a waste of time.

    A democratic country exists only as long as the country has law abiding citizens. We are on a down hill slide and if corrective action is not taken we will lose our country as we knew it in the past. Most crime could be 90% eliminated if Drug Dealers, Murderers, Rapists and Child Molesters were flogged in the public square and then hung with the population looking on. No, that will not happen as we live in a deceived society which is based on lust , g reed and envy.

    I'm not sure what the headline writer means by 'an astonishing 53 of the top 100 have rates higher than the national average'. If you rank 100 cities or people according to anything, won't about half, normally, be higher than average? Or does the writer mean that the higher-than-average break-in rates are concentrated in only 53 places (of far more than 100)?

      I don't get that either. If anything, having the median and the mean so close shows a very natural distribution.

    I have a daughter moving from Kingston to Chilliwack! Oh Lord I fear they are in for a BIG surprise, crime wise….Big difference!!!
