This must be really hard to measure, since most sexual assault is never reported. Also, a comparison against American cities would be interesting for all of these statistics.

    • Mr. Johnson

That is Canada's problem! Why would you worry about American cities? What about Japanese cities? Or Mexican cities? That makes no sense right? Even if crime rates in America, or anywhere else for that matter, happened to be higher than in Canada -which aside from homicide, it is actually not-how would that lessen the crime in Canada's streets? It's one of those "we need to worry about ourselves" cases. That doesn't matter to Canada. Canada's crime rates matter to Canada. As I stated, aside from homicide, Canada's crime rate is pretty much the same as any other western country, including the U.S. Let's not moralize or finger point. How is Canadian crime to be solved if all that is done is a collective "but other countries…" mantra. Canada first in Canada!

  • Penny Benny

No one told them about Wilno, Ontario. It's the sex crime capital of Canada.

People have been slowly moving there and gaining the trust of the community only to start molesting the minute they have any power.

In Toronto the rapists are all husbands raping their wives.

    • Mike

in Ottawa it's the government raping wallets

      • Rosemary Ost

The government is raping everyones wallet.! Hello…H.S.T.

    • Debbie Dunlop

This is not completely true , there are other individuals in Toronto who are rapists other than husbands, for example coaches, priests, teachers etc…!

  • Motherhawk3

I view this survey on sexual assault completely in a different point of view. The higher the number the better. The victims feel safe enough to report the crime to the police and believe something will be done about it. I believe sexual assault is relatively equally in all cities. They just go UNREPORTED. Think about it, victims would never come forward if they were blamed for the attack or the police couldn't protect them from further assaults.

    • Janet

Kitchener and the surround region belong right where it's too. The Waterloo Regional Police Service ignores most victims and discourages them from filling out reports. I am a sexual assault victim and I know other sexual assaults victims. I also used to live in St. Johns and sexual assault is dealt there very seriously

  • Brushett

Cape Breton isn't a city, it is an ISLAND- so that's hardly fair lol

    • Starr Chayce

Agreed, though I'm curious as to what towns in CB lead to their ranking on the list? I'm willing to put money on Sydney, and possibly Louisbourg

      • Liz Gee

I would assume they are referring to the entire CBRM.

  • alicia

omg thats horible i can't believe that they didnt do anything. but that happened to me once it started when i was 9 it was aful…….

  • Jennifer Holton

Unbelievable, I live in cornwall, and I've never felt like this was a dangerous city!!!

  • http://www.crplanet.forumotions.com b_rox

Probably should change the name from Cornwall to Cornholed.

    • BEC

Those of us living in the area do refer to is as Cornhole oddly enough…. and why did they not mention Lanark as having the highest rate of incest-related sexual assault?

  • eliza

this is to crazy prince gorge number 6 80!!!!

  • Sam

Maclean's should be ashamed of themselves. This is shoddy journalism if I ever saw any. For those who didn't know, rape and sexual assault are severely underreported crimes. Maclean's did not report on the cases of rape, the statistics merely reflect the number of >reported< cases. Perhaps these cities at the top of the list are actually cities where victims of rape and sexual assault feel more support and thus more often report these crimes.

  • Jade

Oh dear. I live in Cornwall.
