Rally for Democracy in Canada- March 19th @ 1 pm
A group of concerned Canadians will be gathering on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, & other locations in Canada to illustrate to our political leaders that we are paying attention to the actions and behaviours of our elected officials. Check it out on Facebook.
I'll be at the Victoria one, as I was when Harper abused his power & shut down Parliament in 2008 so he could avoid a no confidence vote.
Let's put our time and money where our mouths are and get out there, and donate to our opposition – we can influence the polls and the election outcome!

Saturday is not a good day for a protest in Ottawa. If you want media coverage, wednesdays are the best day.

With all due respect, these two ads are pretty pathetic – is that the best they can do? Listening to Layton on talk about leadership is a little like hearing Harper talk about accountability.
There was an Ray Charles hit some time back; can't remember the name; but the tune was really catchy. Maybe Jack could use it as a campaign song.

His father was a red Tory. His grandfather was an extremely Anglo Montrealer business executive in Duplessis' cabinet – so Anglo and conservative that he quit in disgust over Quebec's rejection of conscription.
It's like a microcosm of the collapse of western civilization, in just three generations.

More the advancement of it.

I'm not really a fan of the "question from an average Canadian" trope in political ads, but these ones are pretty decent. I quite like the upbeat music.
Layton seems to be overseeing a pretty dramatic shift in how the NDP are viewed – less righteous anger, and more practical solutions for working Canadians. It probably won't yield too many results in the short term, but I suspect that when today's 20 year olds start paying attention to elections the days of thinking NDP = Unions will be a distant memory.

The phoney, rolled up shirt sleeves, just a working guy always bugs me.
"Sure, Jack. I’m touched by your concern for poor seniors, especially given that between the two of you, you and Ms. Chow racked up nearly $1.2 million in taxpayer-covered expenses in 2009, the last year for which reliable figures are available. That was $530,000 for her, $629,000 for you. The average MP consumed $469,000"
