    Sounds like Libs in trouble. Cons going to win seats in toronto and ndp in quebec at expense of Libs. Can Libs really form coalition/minority if they lose 10 seats? Will coalition of losers really be restoring dignity to Parliament after such a naked power grab that is against will of people?

    Would like to know more about NDP – are they going to be new federalist option in Quebec? Maybe Layton thinks lose Sask but gain Que is good trade for a reason.

    Wells wrote a few weeks ago that Lib strategy was to call election, electorate watch Iggy and fall in love and then vote Lib. Presumably, Libs expect Canadians to start to think Iggy is terrific any day now and that's why they are not doing much in way of tactics. Canadians are going to be bowled over by Iggy's brilliance at any moment, no need to do anything.

    Do Libs have Plan B for when Canadians don't suddenly alter their feelings towards Iggy?

    We are still a team AC? The libs have gone as far left as they can and are hoping that enough centrist voters[ and the soft lefties for that matter] will not notice the daylight between themselves and the tories.It's an audacious act of hopefulness – or maybe a hopeful act of audacity? It's gonna take more then wishful thinking though. Maybe they're just hoping SH will blow himself up – as he just about always does at some point in the game? The libs are like the juggler keeping half a dozen plates spinning aloft, all the while waiting for the circus clown to come along and slip on the banana peel…because he always does.

    Re: Great analogies – japan garden/turtles – Wells made me laugh. and the reference to Ignatieff backpeddaling on a carbon tax (introduced during his first run for the Liberal Leadership)

    Now, I don't want to date myself, but I can remember back when Wells was one of the first members of the PPG who would blog, and daily readers like me couldn't comment – so we'd have to resort to email to comment.

    I can specifically remember Wells immediately ridiculing Ignatieff for making such a bold policy statement, that most economists agree was the right move.

    Here's what I wish would happen in Quebec–
    Harper, Ignatieff, and Layton would call a truce for one night, divide up the map of Quebec amongst themselves, and agree to run one candidate against the Bloc in each riding, ridding Parliament of the separatists for at least one election cycle.
    People complain about Harper running the country with the support of less than 40% of the vote.
    Well, apparently 60% or more Quebecers do not want the Bloc to represent them in parliament. How about a coalition to unseat the Bloc?
