    I wonder how much of a dark horse Kennedy is for future lberal leadership…he doesn't have much of a constituency that i can see. Hopefully i'm wrong. He's young, thoughful and articulate…and he's from the west. He ought to be ,along with Trudeau, a big part of his parties future. Maybe the libs should have developed their inhouse prospects a little more, rather than going outside for Ignatieff…oops i'm off message.

    Having the good fortune of living in Kennedy's riding certainly is making it easier for me to vote Liberal for the 2nd time in my life :)

      As well, Ignatieff volunteered for the Liberal Party during the 1965 federal election by canvassing the York South riding. He resumed his work for the Liberal Party in 1968, as a national youth organizer and party delegate for the Pierre Elliott Trudeau party leadership campaign.

      Wait a minute–are you saying you must have been in the party for 30 years before you gain any relevance?

      That's crap. How can we expect parties to change and grow, adapt, etc. if it is a closed clique? That's the very thing wrong with political parties!

        Calm down Jenn. Of course i'm saying no such thing. Remember Trudeau himself was drafted late into the party. Some people were surprised he didn't go NDP given his roots and friends. It was no biggie. Emily claimed MI was inhouse – i just thought it a stretch.Technically she's right. It is fair to say his most logical home, given his history and world view, was with the libs.

    How would Kennedy know what's wrong with Parliament? He's barely ever even there.

    Gerard Kennedy is an MP who is very present in the riding and spends a lot of time working with citizens and community groups. I know this from personal experience. Canada Post was planning to move our local post office out of the Junction and I contacted every politician I could think of including our city rep, provincial mp, party leaders at the federal level, everyone. Understanding Canada Post is a federal entity but hoping people who care about the Junction would lend their voices just to help as they have done for other higher profile, more newsworthy issues in the riding. The only politician who answered my request and responded was Gerard Kennedy. He worked tirelessly and quickly with the citizens and as a result Canada Post relented and our post office was saved. Whatever the outcome of this election, I am grateful to Mr. Kennedy for his efforts and it's nice to have my faith in the political system at least partially restored.
