There's a new sheriff in town

In responding this afternoon to a question from the NDP’s Pat Martin, Conservative David Anderson suggested that Mr. Martin had, in the past, made a “fool of himself.”

At this the Speaker cut Mr. Anderson off and called on the next questioner to rise.

After Question Period, Mr. Anderson rose on a point of order and apologized. This was duly applauded by members on all sides.

    Hmmm, the new speaker is off to a good start.  Let’s hope he keeps it up.

    All it took was a Conservative speaker. Simple.

      Well, it didn’t just require a conservative to be speaking, but a speaker of the house wanting to make a good impression.

    I for one would appreciate some clarity.   Does anyone understand the motivation of speaker’s actions?

    Perhaps personal insults that waste the House’s time will no longer be tolerated… clearly a good thing.

    Or, perhaps statements that are blinding obvious and waste the House’s time will no longer be tolerated, also a good thing but clearly different.
