The most selfish thing a human does is the taking of their own life. Judging his mothers comments Wade was a troubled man bouncing between jocularity and depression easily triggered. As such he was not responsible for his act and as some one mentally impaired should have been the subject for meaningful intervention. Relatives, employers and friends are counted on when things such as this erupt to the detriment of the victim.

Thanks for the very good reads.
I still play old timers hockey every Fiday night and go on a couple of Tournaments a year.
At the age of 73 we don’t allow any contact what-so-ever, or you don’t play. Cheers Mate.

I agree rvmitch, my son played/plays hockey. He is in his twenties now. Over the years we witnessed very scary hits. During one game his teammate was hit from behind and left twicthing on the ice. This was to be his third concussion, and he was still in high school. The NHL leads the way for players of all ages to imitate this violence.

I can no longer watch hockey on any level. I have heard adult men comment that watching womens’ hockey is far more rewarding then men’s because the violence, and lack of enforcement against the violence, is getting way out of hand.

Based on the information provided in this article, there do not seem to be indicators of an intentional suicide. I am merely speculationg from that point of reference.

Larcolant – you do have an opiniion and I respect that and appreciate.
I played hockey and coached this great sport for many years and have met many players with the depressive problem.
I have had friends and relatives take the short way out because the world closes them into a box.
They think nobody cares about them and their problems and then it becomes a case of them not being able to cope.
They then become afraid to speak or talk to anyone because they think of so much embarrissment.
All of a sudden it creeps up on them and, by this time it is too late.
I have helped a few in my world travel as a player, coach, and D.O.P.P.-
I only wished I could have gotten to the players that we have lost this passed season.
May God Bless them all, as well as the families.

I AGREE, ON THE OTHER HAND HE WAS A PUBLIC FIGURE AS SUCH IT IS A PUBLIC STORY. REPORTERS, NO MATTER WHAT LEANING SHOULD ALWAYS PUBLISH THE TRUTH NO MATTER WHAT THE SUBJECT MATTER.

I ATTENDED THE FUNERAL OF AN 11 YEAR OLD BOY WHO DIED FROM AN ACCIDENTAL HANGING. THE MOTHER WENT PUBLIC TRYING TO RAISE AWARENESS TO THESE ISSUES. IN HIS CASE TRYING TO GET HIGH. IF A PUBLIC FIGURE DIES FROM SUCH ACTS IT COULD WELL SAVE LIVES.

I AM SPECULATING, I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS HOW HE DIED . I HAVE NO IDEA.

After reading this article,the only thing that makes sense to me is death by aphyziation during a sex act. If I am correct, I think it may save lives to print the truth. Nothing is easy about either method of death.

Many people know how Wade died but out of respect to the family and because Wade was such a likeable guy people are just not saying anything. I understand why people are keeping the cause of death so hush hush, but it’s just a shame that journalists with anti-Bettman and anti-fighting agendas are sensationalizing his death to further their cause, blaming the NHL and making them a scapegoat for his death is just wrong.

Alot of people are now saying that the strangulation was an “accident”. If that is the case, it might not be the most dignified way to pass away but it certainly is a relief for everyone that it was not suicide.
